December 30, 1960 <br />s <br />A_special meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Friday, December <br />30, 1960 at 3:00 P.M. All members were present. The following business <br />was considered by the Board: <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT GRADING SYSTEM <br />Effective January 1, 1961,,the following designations shall be in effect for <br />the Police Department of the City of South Bend: <br />An officer with less than five years service on the Police Department shall <br />be designated as a First Class Patrolman, or first grade patrolman. <br />An officer,with more than five years service on the Police Department but <br />less than 'nine years service on the Police Department shall be designated <br />as a Second Class Patrolman and shall be entitled to $120 more per annum <br />in salary than a First Class Patrolman. <br />An officer with more than nine years service on the South Bend Police <br />Department but less than thirteen years service on the South Bend Police <br />Department shall be designated as a Third Class Patrolman and shall be <br />entitled to $240 more per annum in salary than a First Class Patrolman. <br />An officer with more than thirteen years service on the South Bend Police <br />Department but less than seventeen years service shall be designated as a <br />Fourth Class Patrolman and shall be entitled to $360 more per annum in <br />salary than a First Class Patrolman. <br />An officer with more than seventeen years service on the South Bend Police <br />Department shall be designated as a Fifth Class Patrolman and shall be <br />entitled to $480 more per annum in salary tnan a First Class Patrolman. <br />(Municipal Corp.
