October 3, 1960 A regular meeting of the Board of public Safety was held on Monday, October 3, 1960 at 9:00 A.M. CST. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. OPENING OF BIDS - TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT PICK UP TRUCK The time now being after 9;00 A.M. CST. it was so announced and the bids for the Traffic Department Pick-up truck were opened and read aloud. Proofs of publication from The South Bend Tribune with affidavit signed by Robert De Long and The Record with affidavit signed by Mary J. Schenck were found sufficient. Sample St. South Bend 19, Indiana 1 New 1961 Studebaker 2 Ton Pick-up Truck Total price for 1 unit $2134.98 Less Excise Credit & Discount _ 234.98 _ $1900.00 Less Credit for Trade-in 1956 Studebaker � Ton Pick-up 610.92 Total Net Difference $1289.08 Certified Check for $130.00 It appearing that Freeman -Spicer Co., Inc. is the low bidder, subject to the specifications being in order, the bid will be awarded to Freeman -Spicer Co., Inc. BUILDING DEPARTMENT (SUB STANDARD DIVISION) HEARINGS Hearing on the demolition order for property located at 205 Studebaker Street was held. Appearing before the Board was Mr. Winston who stated that he had been unable to raise sufficient funds to bring the property up to standard -in accordance with the Building Department's instructions. However, Mr. Winston assured the Board that there is a possibility that he may be able to secure adequate funds to bring the property up to standard. The Board directed the Building Department not to make arrangements for demolition of said property earlier than October 24, 1960 and, further, if Mr. Winston can give adequate proof before this date that he has the necessary funds to bring property up to standard, the demolition order -will be held in abeyance for 30 days thereafter. If, by the end of this period the property has not been brought up to standard, the Building Department will proceed with demolition. Since Mr. Winston appeared in person before the Board and since the above orders were given to Mr. Winston in person, no further notices will be forwarded to Mr. Winston concerning this order:. A progress report on property located at 523 N. St. Joseph Street was presented to the Board by Mr. Grabarz of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department. Since it appears that the Roseland Construction Company, with Mr. Gardner as owner, may purchase this property and bring it up to standard by remodeling, the case is continued for 30 days or until November 7, 1960.
