Hearing on this was continued for one week and referred to the <br />Building Department for examination and report. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT REQUEST - TRIP <br />Permission was granted to Radio Technician J. Andrzejewski of the Fire <br />Department to make a trip to Gary, Indiana Fire Department on Wednesday, <br />September 14, 1960. The purpose of the trip is to straighten out the <br />difficulty the Fire Department is encountering with the Gary Fire Department <br />on conflicting communications signals. Permission was granted. <br />INDIANA & MICHIGAN ELECTRIC COMPANY LIGHTING CONTRACT AGREEMENT <br />A letter from Seebirt, Oare, Deahl & Thornburg in connection with the <br />recent agreement and supplemental agreement between the I &<M,And the <br />City of South Bend relating to electricaY lighting, advised that the <br />copies of these agreements have been filed with the Public Service Commission <br />and its approval was obtained on September 2, 1960 <br />The letter was ordered placed on file. <br />TESTIMONIAL LETTER RE: FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />A letter from John Kagel, Executive Director of the Downtown South Bend <br />qrj+ Council complimenting the South Bend Fire Department for their efficiency <br />r-1 in extinguishing a fire in the basement of the Sherland Building was <br />in directed to the Board. The letter was read aloud and ordered placed on <br />< file. The Board also expressed its gratitude to the Downtown South Bend <br />11 Council for its expression of appreciation. <br />A petition for a street light on Monroe, between Olive and Meade Streets <br />was referred to the Electrical Department for recommendation and report. <br />CIVIL DEFENSE REQUEST - MINNEAPOLIS CONFERENCE <br />A request that Sgt. Woodrow M. McDaniel, County Coordinator, be permitted <br />to attend the ninth annual U.S. CD Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota <br />from September 20 to the 23rd, 1960 inclusive, was granted. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT REQUEST - MILITARY LEAVE <br />Comes now Captain 0. E. Harman of the Police Department and requests leave <br />of absence to fulfil orders from Office of Special Investigation, United <br />States Air Force to report to Bunker Hill Air Force Base for active duty <br />training from September 19, 1960 to October 31 lo60.
