Comes now Charles Howell before the Board.concerning property at 515 Hill Street. Hearing on this was continued for one week and referred to the Building Department for examination and report. FIRE DEPARTMENT REQUEST - TRIP Permission was granted to Radio Technician J. Andrzejewski of the Fire Department to make a trip to Gary, Indiana Fire Department on Wednesday, September 14, 1960. The purpose of the trip is to straighten out the difficulty the Fire Department is encountering with the Gary Fire Department on conflicting communications signals. Permission was granted. INDIANA & MICHIGAN ELECTRIC COMPANY LIGHTING CONTRACT AGREEMENT A letter from Seebirt, Oare, Deahl & Thornburg in connection with the recent agreement and supplemental agreement between the I &<M,And the City of South Bend relating to electricaY lighting, advised that the copies of these agreements have been filed with the Public Service Commission and its approval was obtained on September 2, 1960 The letter was ordered placed on file. TESTIMONIAL LETTER RE: FIRE DEPARTMENT A letter from John Kagel, Executive Director of the Downtown South Bend qrj+ Council complimenting the South Bend Fire Department for their efficiency r-1 in extinguishing a fire in the basement of the Sherland Building was in directed to the Board. The letter was read aloud and ordered placed on < file. The Board also expressed its gratitude to the Downtown South Bend 11 Council for its expression of appreciation. A petition for a street light on Monroe, between Olive and Meade Streets was referred to the Electrical Department for recommendation and report. CIVIL DEFENSE REQUEST - MINNEAPOLIS CONFERENCE A request that Sgt. Woodrow M. McDaniel, County Coordinator, be permitted to attend the ninth annual U.S. CD Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota from September 20 to the 23rd, 1960 inclusive, was granted. POLICE DEPARTMENT REQUEST - MILITARY LEAVE Comes now Captain 0. E. Harman of the Police Department and requests leave of absence to fulfil orders from Office of Special Investigation, United States Air Force to report to Bunker Hill Air Force Base for active duty training from September 19, 1960 to October 31 lo60. Permission was granted. Application for Police Auxiliary School Patrol from Elaine Dolores Marshall was accepted and ordered placed on file.
