2 <br />September 12, 1960 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, September 12, at <br />1bs;00 -A.'M;`Messrs. Smith acid And' si:ak were pres#,. Minutes of the previous <br />regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered <br />paid to the various suppliers. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT <br />STREET LIGHT INSTALLATION <br />Comes now Nicholas Horvath of the Electrical Department and recommends the <br />installation of a 4000 lumen street light at 1024 N. Lawrence St. Recommenda- <br />tion approved and street light ordered installed. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - HEARINGS <br />With reference to the hearing on the property located at 805 S. Bendix Drive, <br />Rev. J. H. Bowles submitted the following letter to the Board: <br />On August 22, 1960, I, Reveremd Bowles, appeared before the Board of Safety <br />to appeal a condemnation order issued by the Building Department for the above <br />referred address. <br />A list of requirements was'sent by the Building Department which would be <br />necessary to correct the structure. Using this list as a guide for estimates, <br />I find that it was not economically feasible to make the necessary repairs. <br />I therefore request the Board to set aside the appeal and request the Board <br />of Safety to direct the Building Department to advertise for bies to demolish <br />the subject stricture charging all costs as a lien against the property. <br />(signed) Reverend J. H. Bowles <br />Mr. Grabarz, Director of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department, <br />was directed to proceed with the Condemnation Order provided the property <br />owner had been so notified by registered mail, return receipt reauested. <br />John Grabarz submitted a letter to the Board concerning the property at 523 <br />N. St. Joseph Street. The letter reports that on June 27, 1960 a condemnation <br />order was issued by the sub -Standard Division of the Building Department and <br />a period of 30 days was allowed for the completion of the demolition. To <br />date, no action has been taken on the order. The Building Department <br />requests the Board to hold a hearing regarding this matter. <br />The Board alproved the condemnation order and directed the Building Department <br />to proceed with the condemnation order and remove the structure. <br />John Grabarz presented a progress report on the property located at 20I2 203 <br />E. Keasey :Street. Mr. Walker, owner of the property, was requested to appear <br />before the Board to show cause why he had not repaired building. In February <br />of 1960 a list of sub -standard conditions was sent to Mr. Walker and he was <br />advised to keep property vacant until repair were made. Repair have not <br />been made and house is now occupied. <br />The Building Department is directed to submit a registered letter, return <br />receipt requested, to Mr. Walker that demolition will take place in two weeks <br />from date. If he has any objection he shall appear before the Board not <br />later than September 26, 1960. <br />The Building Department was directed to take all measures necessary to remove <br />the structure from the premises, if above order is ignored. <br />A hearing on the property owned by Mr. Talboon at 1612 N. Meade Street was <br />continued for two weeks. <br />A progress report concerning the property located at 730 S. Carlisle Street <br />was brought to the attention of the Board. It was disclosed that this <br />property was P. by A. The Building Department was directed by the Board <br />to tear down the structure and assess the costs against the property. <br />
