ME, <br />An application for the Fire Department from Charles Louis Eger, 13391 <br />Poland .street was examined and ordered placed on file. <br />An application for the Police Department from Walter Stanley Szynski, Jr. <br />was examined and ordered placed on file. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT BIDS <br />Comes now Vernon Lane with bids for the demolition of a structure at <br />110 N. Sadie Street. The bids were from Ham The Wrecker for $375.00 <br />and B & 0 Wrecking Company for $175.00. The bids were examined by the <br />Board and Vernon Lane was authorized to award the bid to B & 0 Wrecking <br />Company. <br />A hearing set for this date at which time Wallace Mitchell was ordered to <br />appear and show cause why the City should not demolish a structure at <br />2509 Longley was continued for one week and Mr. Mitchell was directed to <br />appear before the Board at that time. <br />Vernon Lane reported to the Board that there had been numerous complaints <br />of escessive soot in the neighborhood of 119 E. Tasher Street. Police <br />officers had investigated the matter and the report showed an extreme <br />amount of soot, according to Mr. Lane. The Board directed Mr. Lane to <br />investigate the matter and authorized him to correct the condition. <br />A hearing set for August 8, 1960 was continued until this date to give <br />Mr. Talhoon the opportunity to bring the property at 1612 N. Meade Street <br />m-j PP Y 9 P P Y <br />up to standard. Mr. Lane reports that foundation and brick work being <br />done on the structure were unsatisfactory. A work stoppage was ordered <br />and the case continued until the._.meeting':of. August 29, 1960. <br />With reference to a restraining order heretofore issued for the condemna- <br />tion of the property located at 523 N. St. Joe Street, an estate of <br />Augusta Walker (deceased), Mr. Irving J. Smith informed the Board that <br />an agreement has been entered into with the parties for said property <br />P Y <br />which was condemned and the costs,shall be assessed against the real <br />estate. The restraining order will be dismissed. The Building Commissioner <br />is directed by the Board to proceed with advertising to carry out said <br />condemnation. <br />Comes now Reverend Wilson with reference to the erection of a Church at <br />1059 Burns Avenue. Reverend Wilson states that work is being done but <br />asks for additional time in which to complete this job. Request granted <br />and hearing continued for one week. <br />The time being 11:30 A.M. the Board voted unanimously to recess until <br />2:00 P.M. at whick time other business will be considered. <br />The Board reconvened at 2:00 P.M. to consider other business that might <br />come before the Board. <br />With further reference to the condemnation for property located at 523 <br />N. St. Joe Street, Mr. Irving Smith, City Attorney, advised the Board that <br />he is now in receipt of a letter from the Trustee of the First Bank and <br />Trust Company of Mishawaka stating that Lather than rescind the restraining <br />order they ask that the hearing before the Probate Court be set over until <br />September 6, 1960, during which time the City Attorney was requested to <br />submit to the Trustee any and all information relevant and pertinent to <br />the order of condemnation. The Board approved the above action and directs <br />the Building Commissioner not to advertise for bids for demolition as =` <br />earlier directed. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meetin was <br />adjourned at 3:00 P.M. <br />Chairman <br />Attest: Ant?Oi y J.
