A petition from Robert Jeske and others for a Street Light on Westmoor Street from <br />Olive Street .to Meade Street was referred to the Electrical Department for <br />recommendation and report. <br />A Monthly Report from the Building Department was approved and ordered placed on file. <br />The Clerk of the Board submitted a report on the complaint of Mr. Schroeder that <br />smoke from a chimney from the Associates Investment Company facility on Ruskin <br />Street constituted a nuisance. The Maintenance Supervisor of Associates Investment <br />Company advised the Clerk that this matter has been corrected. <br />Mr. Everet K. Koontz, 1217 E. Calvert Street submitted an application for a <br />Special Police Office appointment. The application was approved by the Board <br />and referred to the Police Chief for further action. <br />Comes now John Grabarz of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department with <br />a progress report on a dwelling at 142 N. Chicago Street3 owned by Mrs. Dgtis. An <br />order to get this property up to standard had not been complied with and Mrs. Davis <br />was requested to appear before the Board to show cause. Mrs. Davis advised that <br />the property is in the hands of a realtor and will be vacated on August 13, 1960 <br />and, prior to sale, will be protected and that it will not be occupied until <br />brought up to standard. Hearing is continued for 60 days or the closest Monday <br />thereafter. <br />Mr. Seese, 110 N. Sadie Street, appeared before the Board to see what could be <br />done with the dwelling at the above address. Since he has no objection to the <br />demolition of said dwelling, the Board ordered the demolition of same, cost of <br />such demolition will be assessed against the real estate. <br />With reference to the building in the rear of 1612 N.. Meade Street, comes now <br />Mr. Talboon to show cause why said building has not been moved or repaired as <br />ordered. Mr. Talboon alleges that he has brought this building up to standard. <br />The Building Department was directed by the Board to make an examination and <br />the hearing was continued for two weeks. Mr. Talboon will appear before the Bond <br />at that time. <br />Comes now John Grabarz, Director of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building <br />Department with Mr. Odem, 220 S. Cherry Street. Mr. Odem was directed to appear <br />before the Board to show cause why structure at the above -mentioned property was <br />not repaired by July 1, 1860 as ordered. After hearing Mr. Odem, the Board <br />directed him to sign an affidavit that the necessary repairs will be completed <br />by November 1, 1960. <br />John Grabarz further reports that Rev. D. D. Wilson of 1059 Burns Avenue who was <br />to complete repairs on this property and appear before thwiBoard on this date <br />has not complied with this order. The Board directed Mr. Grabarz to direct an <br />order to Rev. Wilson to appear before the Board in two weeks, or August 22, <br />1960 <br />John Grabarz submitted a progress report on the dwelling located at 802 N. Sherman <br />Avenue. The Board directed that the hearing on this case be continued for 60 <br />days in order to bring the property up to standard. <br />Comes now Hattie A:Harris, owner of the premises at 234 N. Chicago Street to <br />advise the Board that improvements of the premises are now being made. At her <br />request, the Board approved a continuance of this case. for 30 days in order <br />to complete improvements. If more time is needed, the Board will grant an extension. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned <br />at 11:45 A.M. 14 <br />Attest: Wthony J.
