FXNTRTT A <br />MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING <br />BETWEEN THE WAGE COMMITTEE OF THE SOUTH <br />BEND FIRE FIGHTERS UNION, LOCAL NO. 362 <br />OF THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIRE- <br />FIGHTERS, AFL -CIO, AND THE SOUTH BEND <br />COMMON COUNCIL <br />This Memorandum of Understanding is entered into on this <br />day of June, 1978, between the South Bend Fire Fighters <br />Union, Local No. 362 of the International Association of Fire- <br />fighters, AFL -CIO, hereinafter referred to as "FIREFIGHTERS" and <br />the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, herein- <br />after referred to as "COUNCIL ". <br />The parties mutually agree as follows: <br />SECTION I. Purpose. The FIREFIGHTERS and the COUNCIL have <br />entered into this Memorandum of Understanding to incorporate all <br />understandings previously reached with regards to the salary and <br />benefit package for 1980. The parties hereto believe that such a <br />memorandum sets forth the understandings which resulted from good <br />faith bargaining sessions. The parties further believe that such <br />a memorandum will serve the best interests of the community as well <br />as provide a means of amicably resolving the 1980 salary and bene- <br />fit package. <br />SECTION II. Career Development Plan. The FIREFIGHTERS and <br />the COUNCIL agree that the Career Development Plan instituted at <br />the rank of Engineer for 1979 shall be expanded for 1980 to be as <br />follows: <br />Engineers <br />Service Years <br />3 -5 <br />5 -6 <br />6 -7 <br />7 -8 <br />8 -9 <br />9 -10 <br />10 -11 <br />11 -12 <br />12 and above <br />Each level shall represent a $250.00 increase from the previous level. <br />SECTION III. Allocation of $200,000 for Salaries. The <br />FIREFIGHTERS and the COUNCIL agree that a total of Two Hundred Thou- <br />sand Dollars ($200,000.00) shall be allocated among the ranks re- <br />presented by the Wage Committee. The parties further agree that <br />the specific allocation of such monies shall be determined by the <br />parties no later than by the last Common Council meeting in July <br />1979. <br />
