Rzepka <br />reports that, while progress has been made, afire hazzard still exists. <br />The Board directs the Department to follow through immediately on this and <br />report findings to Board. , <br />A letter from Leer Really Corporation, signed by Lawrence I. Serkes, President, <br />to the Fire Chief was submitted to the Board. Mr. Serkes praised the Fire <br />Department for the splendid efforts of the entire Fire Department at the <br />time of the fire at 116-118-120 W. Colfax Avenue.on July 16, 1960, and <br />expressed appreciation to the entire Department.. The letter was read and <br />ordered placed on file. <br />A letter of resignation from Russell K. Reece, a member of the City Fire <br />Department was approved, effective August 1, 1960. <br />f <br />Comes now Fire -Chief Alex Andrzejewski with a recommendation that Fireman <br />Arthur J. Howard".s retirement from the Fire Departmentbe approved. This <br />action has been governed by the provisions of the Pension Fund and upon <br />the recommendation of Dr. R. W. 8�:eryner, medical examiner. The resignation <br />shall become effective as of August 169 1960. <br />The following applications for the Fire Department were appapted and <br />ordered placed on file: Edward Palicki, 5209 Mayflower Road, John W. <br />Gnoth,,505 E. Eckman 'St., Stephen Keresztesi, 3315 St..Joseph St., Eugene <br />J. Stachowiak, 1012 W. Colfax Avenue. <br />The following applications for the Police Department -were accepted and <br />ordered placed on file: Robert R. Werntz, Edward P. Gassensmith. <br />':Street Light Outage Reports were examined and ordered placed on file. <br />The South Bend Firemen's A sspciation requested permission to sl?onsor the <br />annual bail at the Notre Dame Drill Hall, Saturday, September 39 1960. <br />The Board grants the request and orders letter from Mr. George:Krovitch, <br />Dance Chairman, placed on file. <br />An application for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol from Marian M. <br />Humphrey was presented to the Board and ordered placed on file. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was <br />adjourned at 11:15 A.M. <br />Attest: AnthoWJ.
