S,480, CLERK <br />January 18t 1960 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, January 189 <br />1960 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meet- <br />ing were read and approved. <br />Applications for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol are hereby examined and placed on <br />file for Kathryn Pope. <br />Special Police applications approved and placed on file for Julius L. Pallo and Syl- <br />vester Zell. <br />The monthly report of the Weights & Measures Department is hereby accepted and placed <br />on file. <br />The Board hereby approves the recommendation of the Electrical Department Superintendent <br />to install a 4000 lumen street light at the intersection of Sample and Brookfield Sts- <br />A petition is hereby received from MR. and Mrs. Joseph Kruk, 411 S. Camden Street and <br />several others asking for the improvement of the middle of the block between Western <br />and Huron on Camden by the construction of street lighting. Petition referred to the <br />City Electrical Department for investigation and recommendation. <br />The Board hereby approves the bid of Ham The Wrecker in the amount of $565.00 for de- <br />molition of a two story frame dwelling and a one-story accessory dwelling at 2621 <br />Linden Avenue as so advertised by the Building Department. <br />The Clerk of the Board is directed to advertise for a 60 Watt Base Station for the <br />South Bend Police Department conditioned upon approval by the Controller that there <br />is sufficient funds for said bid. <br />Comes now Officer Leroy C. Barritt, of the South Bend Police Department, and makes <br />a request to the Board for a leave of absence from his present duties with the De- <br />partment effective at the start of the pay period, January 15, 1960 to February 15, <br />1960. Further, Officer Barritt states that he understands that he will draw no com- <br />pensation from the department during the time of this leave.
