January 11, 1960 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, January 11, 1960 <br />at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting <br />were read and approved. Voucher Nos. 5581 through 5856 were approved and ordered paid <br />to the various suppliers. <br />Special police bond approved for John James Leader. <br />Special police application approved for Julius Musick, 513 W. Jefferson Blvd. <br />The Clerk of the Board is directed to advertise for 2 sedans for the Police Depart- <br />ment. <br />Applications for the Police Department are examined and placed on file for Spandward <br />Mitchem. <br />Applications for the Fire Department are examined and placed on file for August Brenner, <br />James Newburn, Gerald Youts, Ray Wroblewski, Robert Crawford, Robert Feiser, Larry An- <br />derson. <br />Applications for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol examined and placed on file for <br />Helen Vleaminck. <br />Comes now Chief Dutrieux and recommends to the Board the Promotions of Patrolmen Dan <br />�.., Nowak and Ervin Plencner to the rank of Sergeant to become effective the 16th day of <br />January, 1960. Board approves slid recommendation. <br />A petition is hereby presented to the Board from Dasimir Niedbala, 1820 W. Sample <br />and several others asking for the improvement of West Sample at Brookfield by con- <br />struction of street lighting. Ray Andrysiak, now makes a motion that Callix Miller, Architect and Engineer, <br />be retained for the purpose of preparing estimates and specifications for rehabilit- <br />ation of Station #2. Board hereby approves said motion and a letter authorizing Mr. <br />Miller reference same is hereby directed to him. <br />The Board hereby approves the appointment of Emery G. Molnar to the South Bend Police <br />Department and Edward E. Urbanski to the Fire Department. Said applicants having <br />passed all required written examinations and the physical examination by the City <br />Doctor and further having been accepted for membership in the Pension Funds of re- <br />spective departments, their appointment will become effective the llth day of Janu- <br />ary, 1960 for said Molnar and the 16th day of January, 1960 for said Urbanski. <br />
