Common Council Page 2 The special recreation program is an after school program offered for ten weeks in the spring and fall. A combination of in- school counseling, cultural, and recreational activities are offered. The object is to change behavior as it effects performance. The campership program will be increased to include a series of camp experiences at Pretty Lake Adventure Camp. This program will be geared to small groups of older teens. The program will include initiative games, problem solving, rope courses, camp experiences and climbing. We will again provide campership experience to a select group of participants as a reward for improved behavior in the Summer Fun Program. This camp experience is used as an incentive and a reward for improved behavior. Uniforms for camp participants are also used as a reward. The uniform will consist of a t- shirt, socks, and tennis shoes. As indicated, a 25% match is required. It is intended that a letter of certification as to the availability of funds will be submitted to the State in lieu of cash. The initial application will be submitted to the State for review, after which time a contract will be negotiated. A contract will be developed for approval in late May or early June. The contract period is July, 1979 through June, 1980. I hope this information_ is sufficient for a clear understanding of our Title XX application.
