With reference -to property located at 513 S. Bendix, Mr. Grabarz requested permission to advertise for bids for demolition. The Board granted the request with the stipulation that interested parties be notified. Mr. Grabarz reported to the Board,that property owned by Mr. Jacob Gilbert of Bexley, Ohio, which is located at 330-3302 S. Michigan Street, is in a bad state of disrepair, due to a recent fire. 1b. G'.lbert was requested to appear to show cause why he has not made the necessary repairs. A condemnation order was issued and time expired on August 20, 1964. The Board directed that a letter be addressed to Irving J. Smith,. attorney for Tit?. Gilbert, advising that said property is more than 50% destroyed by fire and that the Sub -Standard Division has requested permission to let a contract for demolition of the said premises; and further, that Mr. Smith contact the Board to show cause, if any, why demolition should not be ordered. OPE I G OF BIDS: DWOLIJIOM ( S -S ARD AA&MING OF BID Mr. Grabarz submitted sealed bids for the demolition of property located at 317 S. Kentucky Street, of which Mr. Cauffman is Executor of the Estate. The following bids were received: A & J Demolition $350.00 - -retain salvage 318 N. O'Brien St. 365.00 - stack salvage South Bend; Ind. Chas Clough $385.00 - retain salvage 25412 State Road #2 440.00 - stack salvage South Bend, Ind. After examination of both bids which were in order, it appearing that Af& J. Demolition is the lowest and best bid, the bid for said demolition was awarded to A & J Demolition. BUILDING DEPARTUE T: ATTEND CONFERENCE The Board granted permiss-ion to Forrest R. West, Building Commissioner, to attend the National Fire Protection Association Conference in Louisville, Kentucky on October 12, 13 and 14, 1964. Sufficient funds are available. LR FFIC ENGINEER;_ ATTEND CONFERENCE The Board granted permission for Clem Hazinski and his assistant, Gregory Armstrong, to attend the Traffic Engineering Conference at Purdue University, on Occober 12 through October 16, 1964. Sufficient funds are available. FIRE DEPARTPMT: PICK UP FIRE TRUCK EILIM, NEW YORK The Board granted permission to Fire Chief McHenry and two firemen to go to Elmira, New York to pick up and drive back a new piece of fire equipment. WEIGHTS & MEASURES: MONTHLY REPORT a report for the month of August, 1964 from the Weights & Measures Department was accepted and ordered placed on file. BUILDING DEPARMIENT• MONTHLY REPORT A report for the month of September, 1964 from the Building Department was accepted and ordered placed on file.
