With reference -to property located at 513 S. Bendix, Mr. Grabarz <br />requested permission to advertise for bids for demolition. <br />The Board granted the request with the stipulation that interested <br />parties be notified. <br />Mr. Grabarz reported to the Board,that property owned by Mr. Jacob <br />Gilbert of Bexley, Ohio, which is located at 330-3302 S. Michigan <br />Street, is in a bad state of disrepair, due to a recent fire. <br />1b. G'.lbert was requested to appear to show cause why he has not made <br />the necessary repairs. A condemnation order was issued and time <br />expired on August 20, 1964. <br />The Board directed that a letter be addressed to Irving J. Smith,. <br />attorney for Tit?. Gilbert, advising that said property is more than <br />50% destroyed by fire and that the Sub -Standard Division has requested <br />permission to let a contract for demolition of the said premises; and <br />further, that Mr. Smith contact the Board to show cause, if any, why <br />demolition should not be ordered. <br />OPE I G OF BIDS: DWOLIJIOM ( S -S ARD AA&MING OF BID <br />Mr. Grabarz submitted sealed bids for the demolition of property located <br />at 317 S. Kentucky Street, of which Mr. Cauffman is Executor of the <br />Estate. <br />The following bids were received: <br />A & J Demolition $350.00 - -retain salvage <br />318 N. O'Brien St. 365.00 - stack salvage <br />South Bend; Ind. <br />Chas Clough $385.00 - retain salvage <br />25412 State Road #2 440.00 - stack salvage <br />South Bend, Ind. <br />After examination of both bids which were in order, it appearing that <br />Af& J. Demolition is the lowest and best bid, the bid for said demolition <br />was awarded to A & J Demolition. <br />BUILDING DEPARTUE T: ATTEND CONFERENCE <br />The Board granted permiss-ion to Forrest R. West, Building Commissioner, <br />to attend the National Fire Protection Association Conference in Louisville, <br />Kentucky on October 12, 13 and 14, 1964. Sufficient funds are available. <br />LR FFIC ENGINEER;_ ATTEND CONFERENCE <br />The Board granted permission for Clem Hazinski and his assistant, Gregory <br />Armstrong, to attend the Traffic Engineering Conference at Purdue University, <br />on Occober 12 through October 16, 1964. Sufficient funds are available. <br />FIRE DEPARTPMT: PICK UP FIRE TRUCK EILIM, NEW YORK <br />The Board granted permission to Fire Chief McHenry and two firemen to <br />go to Elmira, New York to pick up and drive back a new piece of fire <br />equipment. <br />WEIGHTS & MEASURES: MONTHLY REPORT <br />a report for the month of August, 1964 from the Weights & Measures <br />Department was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />BUILDING DEPARMIENT• MONTHLY REPORT <br />A report for the month of September, 1964 from the Building Department <br />was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />
