4g1 <br />August 24, 1964 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />August 24, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of <br />the last regular meeting were read and approved. No vouchers were <br />approved for payment. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT: HOUSE MOVE (HILDRETH TO 30T-H ) <br />Comes now Forrest R. West, Building Commissioner, anal requests permission <br />to move a house from 1717 Hildreth Street to 1226 S. 30th Street. The <br />owner of the house is John Gardner and the mover is Irv. Warden. <br />Mr. West advised the Board that notification had been sent to all <br />persons who are interested parties and that the house meets the necessary <br />qualifications of Codes pertaining to house moves. <br />There being no remonstrators present and no written remonstrances having <br />been received, the Board approved the house move in accordance with <br />the terms of the request. <br />SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( HEARINGS_ ) <br />Comes now Joseph Ettl, attorney for Mr.and"Mrs. Blad, owners of property <br />located at 715 S. Meade Street. Mr. and Mrs. Blad had been directed to <br />appear to inform the Board whether they would repair the dwelling or <br />have it demolished. <br />Mr. Ettl advised the Board that, due to illness, Mr. Blad had been <br />unable to accomplish the repairs necessary or to find a buyer. He <br />requested a continuance to allow time to determine whether the house <br />could be sold. <br />After hearing Mr. Ettl, the Board granted a continuance of two weeks. <br />With reference to property owned by Roland Grant, located at 1629 <br />Linden Avenue, the Board was advised by the Clerk of the Board that <br />a letter had been sent to Mr. Grant requesting that he.contact the <br />City Attorney to show cause why he had refused to remove a root beer <br />stand located on his property. <br />This case was continued for one week to allow additional time for Mr. <br />Grant to contact theCity Attorney. <br />A letter from the Urban Redevelopment Department was submitted to the <br />Board advising the Board that property owned by Otto Pozsgay, located <br />at 1302 Chapin Street may be acquired by the Redevelopment Department <br />but this acquisition may not occur for several years. The Redevelopment <br />Department strongly recommended that the structure be condemned and <br />demolished as a safety measure. <br />Accordingly, the Board directed Mr. Grabarz to inform Mr. Otto Pozsgay <br />to appear before the Board on August 31, 1964 to show cause why this <br />structure should not be demolished. Should he not appear, the Board will <br />take appropriate action to accomplish demolition. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT: APPOINTMENT ( J. R. RITTER ) <br />Fire Chief McHenry appeared before the Board and -advised the Board that <br />Jay R. Ritter, having met all requirements of the Fire Department and <br />the Pension Board was eligible to appointment as a member of the Fire <br />Department and requested that the Board approve the appointment. <br />The bbard, following the recommendation of the Fire Chief and the Pension <br />Board approved the appointment of Mr. Ritter, effective September 1�- 1964. <br />
