1 <br />1 <br />June 22, 1964 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />June 22, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. Messrs. R. J. DuComb and James A. Bickel <br />were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and <br />approved. No vouchers were approved for payment. <br />Following a complaint from Fire Chief McHenry concerning alleged violations <br />of Rules and Regulations of the Fire Department by Fireman Thomas J. <br />Quirk, Jr., the Board scheduled a Xearing on the alleged violations for <br />Monday, July 6, 1964 at 9:00 A.M. in the City Hall, <br />A letter to Mr. Quirk advising him of said Hearing was ordered delivered <br />to him. <br />REQUESTS: FIRE DEPARTMENT PROMOTIONS <br />A request from Fire Chief McHenry for the following promotions for members <br />of the Fire Department was taken under advisement: <br />Frank Tonk, promoted to rank of Lieutenant <br />Jack J. Bukowski, promoted to rank of Captain <br />Dale Fortin, promoted to rank of Chief Instructor <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT FESTIVAL - CHANGE IN LOCATION <br />The Fraternal Order of Police have requested permission to change the <br />location of the Festival from Marycrest 16t at 2000 W. Western Avenue to <br />the lot at the southwest corner of Main & Ewing Avenue which is owned <br />by Mr. T. E. Kuntz. Mr. Kuntz has granted permission to use this lot. <br />The Festival will be at this location from June 22 to June 28, 1964. <br />Permission granted. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - MILITARY DUTY ( OFFICER JULIUS DEFREEUW i <br />Permission was granted to Officer Julius R. DeFreeuw to be absent from <br />duty from August 8 to August 23, 1964 to serve with the Indiana National <br />Guard in Summer Training at Puerto Rico. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER: TRAFFIC SIGNS <br />Following the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, the following <br />installations were approved: <br />No Parking signs installed on north, south and west sides of Pinhook <br />Drive. <br />Stop Signs installed on Linden, both sides-, at Birdsell Street making <br />this a 4-way stop. <br />No Parking signs installed on both sides of Riverside Drive between <br />Northview (Pinhook Drive) and Colfax Road. <br />COMPLAINT: PETITION - RE: SUB -STANDARD I ATI NS <br />A Petition from residents of the area complained of was submitted to the <br />Board. <br />The Petition complained of sub -standard structures, health hazards and <br />public nuisances at the following locations: <br />1. Section of North Birdsell=Street in 100 block from W. Liston St. <br />2. Building at 1513-1515 W. Liston Street owned by Mr. Hollis A ghes. <br />3. Old Shed in rear of 1513 W. Liston filled with junk and refuse. <br />The Petition was referred to Mr. John Grabarz of the Sub -Standard Division <br />for investigation and recommendation. <br />
