1 1 June 22, 1964 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, June 22, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. Messrs. R. J. DuComb and James A. Bickel were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved. No vouchers were approved for payment. Following a complaint from Fire Chief McHenry concerning alleged violations of Rules and Regulations of the Fire Department by Fireman Thomas J. Quirk, Jr., the Board scheduled a Xearing on the alleged violations for Monday, July 6, 1964 at 9:00 A.M. in the City Hall, A letter to Mr. Quirk advising him of said Hearing was ordered delivered to him. REQUESTS: FIRE DEPARTMENT PROMOTIONS A request from Fire Chief McHenry for the following promotions for members of the Fire Department was taken under advisement: Frank Tonk, promoted to rank of Lieutenant Jack J. Bukowski, promoted to rank of Captain Dale Fortin, promoted to rank of Chief Instructor POLICE DEPARTMENT FESTIVAL - CHANGE IN LOCATION The Fraternal Order of Police have requested permission to change the location of the Festival from Marycrest 16t at 2000 W. Western Avenue to the lot at the southwest corner of Main & Ewing Avenue which is owned by Mr. T. E. Kuntz. Mr. Kuntz has granted permission to use this lot. The Festival will be at this location from June 22 to June 28, 1964. Permission granted. POLICE DEPARTMENT - MILITARY DUTY ( OFFICER JULIUS DEFREEUW i Permission was granted to Officer Julius R. DeFreeuw to be absent from duty from August 8 to August 23, 1964 to serve with the Indiana National Guard in Summer Training at Puerto Rico. TRAFFIC ENGINEER: TRAFFIC SIGNS Following the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, the following installations were approved: No Parking signs installed on north, south and west sides of Pinhook Drive. Stop Signs installed on Linden, both sides-, at Birdsell Street making this a 4-way stop. No Parking signs installed on both sides of Riverside Drive between Northview (Pinhook Drive) and Colfax Road. COMPLAINT: PETITION - RE: SUB -STANDARD I ATI NS A Petition from residents of the area complained of was submitted to the Board. The Petition complained of sub -standard structures, health hazards and public nuisances at the following locations: 1. Section of North Birdsell=Street in 100 block from W. Liston St. 2. Building at 1513-1515 W. Liston Street owned by Mr. Hollis A ghes. 3. Old Shed in rear of 1513 W. Liston filled with junk and refuse. The Petition was referred to Mr. John Grabarz of the Sub -Standard Division for investigation and recommendation.
