June 15, 1964 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />June 15, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. Messrs. R. J. DuComb-and James A. Bickel <br />were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and <br />approved. Vouchers were approved -and ordered paid to the various <br />suppliers. <br />The hearing with reference to the alleged violation of the Rules <br />and Regulations of the Fire Department scheduled for 9:00 A.M. <br />was postponed at the request of Mr. Cunningham's attorney. <br />The hearing will be scheduled for 9:00 A.M. on Monday, June 29, <br />1964. <br />INSTRUCTION BUREAU FORTIN ) <br />Fire Chief McHenry requested permission for Acting Chief of the <br />Instruction Bureau,:.DaleFortisi and Lt. Carl B. Lederer to attend the <br />Merit System Training School in Muncie, Indiana on'June 16 and 17, 1064. <br />These firemen have been invited to act as instructors. <br />Permission granted. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT: SIX MONTH PROBATION REPORTS ( PUSZTAI & SOOS ) <br />Following the recommendation of their superior officer and also upon <br />the recommendation of Fire Chief McHenry, the following firemen, having <br />completed their 6 month Probation Period, are now accepted for permanent <br />membership on the South Bend Fire Department: <br />Richard Pusztai <br />Dale Soos <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT: SIX MONTH PROBATION REPORT ( T. BRASSELL ) <br />Upon the recommendation of Eugene Radecki, Superintendent of the <br />Electrical Department, the,Board now approves Lineman Timothy Brassell <br />for permanent membership,in.the South Bend Electrical Department <br />after having satisfactorily completed his six month Probation Period. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT: MILITARY LEAVE (M, T WEGAfflq). <br />At the request of Eugene Radecki, Superintendent of the Electrical <br />Department, the Board approves a leave of absence for active Military <br />Training from June 27 to July 12, 1964. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT: TERMINATION OF EMPLOYMENT ( KOWALSKI ) <br />Based upon Police Chief Hamton's approvel, the Board now approves the <br />request for termination of employment to receive pension after having <br />completed 22 years, 4 months, 13 days of continuous service on the <br />Police Department which was submitted by Officer Ervin Kowalski. <br />SPECIAL POLICE BONDS ( GISH & SELF ) <br />The Board approved the renewal of Special Police Bonds for Robert A. <br />Gish and Everett F. Self, both members of Studebaker Local No. 5. <br />The Bonds were ordered placed on file. <br />APPLICATIONS: POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The following applications for the Police Department were accepted and <br />ordered placed on file: Jon LeRoy Robinson, Jerry B. Kendall, Paul M. <br />Shimer. <br />
