May 4, 1964 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday,. <br />May 4, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the <br />last regular meeting were read and approved. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT: ATTEND CONFERENCE <br />Permission was granted to Forrest R. West, Building Commissioner and <br />John A. Grabarz, Jr., Director of the Sub -Standard Division of'the <br />Building Department, to attend the 49th Annual Conference of the <br />Building Officials Conference of America, Inc.,, in New York City from <br />May 23 to May 29, 1964.' Funds'are'included in the budget for this <br />purpose. <br />SUB -STANDARD DIVISION (HEARING <br />Comes now Mr. Ivory Kurtz, owner of property located at 1511 Listen <br />Street to request a continuance in order to bring this property up to <br />standard. Said property has been ordered demolished. <br />After hearing.Mr. Kurtz," the Board ruled that the hearing be continued <br />fortwo weeks at.which time he is to bring. contract to the Board <br />meeting showing that all items on the "objection sheet" will be <br />repaired. <br />This arrangement was agreed to by Mr. -Kurtz. <br />OPENING OF BIDS: DEMOLITION OF PROPERTY <br />Comes -now John Grabarz with sealed bids for the demolition of property <br />located at 1047 LaSalle Court. - <br />Bids were received from the following: <br />A-& J Demolition Co. <br />Bill Torok <br />Chas. Clough <br />R. Lafferty <br />The bids were opened by. the Board and all were rejected for the reason <br />that the Non -Collusion Affidavit was not executed. <br />Mr. Grabarz was instructed to so.notify the bidders -and to re -advertise. <br />REGULATIONS: DE_ MOL�TION CONTRACTORS <br />The Board ruled that when structures are demolished by contractors,the <br />contractor who is the successful bidder must clean up all debris one <br />week after demolition. <br />The Board further ruled that no on -site burning shall be allowed unless <br />special permission has been obtained and then under strict Fire Department <br />control. <br />GATES CHEVROLET RE UEST• REMOVAL OF PARKING METER <br />A letter from Gates Chevrolet Corporation, from Van E. Gates., requests <br />permission to have a parking meter removed in the 300 block of South <br />Lafayette Boulevard, since this meter blocks a driveway that is now being <br />used. The meter was installed when this.parking.lot was being used for <br />dead storage. <br />This arrangement was made with the understanding that when the lot would <br />1 <br />
