322 April 27, 1964 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, April 27, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last .regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to'the various suppliers. RETIREMENT: POLICE DEPARTMENT ( KLAYBOR ) At his request and following the recommendation of Police Chief Hampton, Police Officer John Klaybor, after 22 years and 2 months of service on the. Police Force, requests retirement, effective May 11 1964 after his two weeks terminal leave.. Officer Klaybor informs the Board that he is retiring to,accept a position of County Civil Defense Director. which has been approved by the St. Joseph County Civil Defense Advisory Council. Request approved. SPECIAL POLICE COMMISSION( TORRINGTON ) A Special Police Commission for Edward Theodore Wagernowski, an employee of Torrington Company was approved and ordered placed on file. POLICE AUXILIARY SCHOOL PATROL ( WOODSON ) An application- for Police Auxiliary School Patrol from Sally M. Woodson was accepted and ordered placed on file. COMPLIMENT: SOUTH BEND CIVIC PLANNING ASSOCIATION Miss Virginia Guthrie, Executive Secretary of the South Bend Civic Planning Association, appeared before the Board and wished to go on record as a representative of the South Bend civic Planning Association to compliment the South Bend Police Department for their excellent security work -during the recent visit of President Johnson to South Bend. ELECFRICAL DEPARTMENT - PETITION (STREET LIGHT ) A Petition from residents of Canderbury Drive requests the installation of a street light on Canterbury Drive in front of 1035 Canterbury Drive. The Petition was referred to the Electrical Department for investigation and recommendation. TRAFFIC ENGINEER: TRAFFIC SIGNS Following the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, the following installations were approved: No Parking 6 A.M. to 9 A.M. signs installed on west. side of 100 & 200 N. William Streets No Parking on north side of 1300 & 1400 W. Colfax Avenue. No Parking signs with limit from 7 H.M. to 5 P.M. in front of Riley High School, 400 E. Ewing Ave. No Parking signs on Orange St., south side, from Birdsell St.. to where railroad tracks cross - 50 ft. east of Birdsell. No Parking This Side signs on south side of Linden Avenue, from Bendix to Kaley St. Yield signs installed on Rexford, both sides, at Manchester, replaced with Stop Signs. Stop Signs installed on both sides of Woodmant at Rexford, replacing Yield Signs. Two Hour time limit signs installed on east side of Dundee from Sample to z block north. Two Hour time limit signs 9 A.M. to 6 P.M. at 115 N. William St. Two Hour time limit signs installed at 676 N. Lawndale Ave. No Parking at Any Time in stalled on second light pole south of Pokagon Street on -west side of Michigan Street. 1 1 1
