322 <br />April 27, 1964 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />April 27, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the <br />last .regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved <br />and ordered paid to'the various suppliers. <br />RETIREMENT: POLICE DEPARTMENT ( KLAYBOR ) <br />At his request and following the recommendation of Police Chief Hampton, <br />Police Officer John Klaybor, after 22 years and 2 months of service on <br />the. Police Force, requests retirement, effective May 11 1964 after <br />his two weeks terminal leave.. Officer Klaybor informs the Board that <br />he is retiring to,accept a position of County Civil Defense Director. <br />which has been approved by the St. Joseph County Civil Defense Advisory <br />Council. <br />Request approved. <br />SPECIAL POLICE COMMISSION( TORRINGTON ) <br />A Special Police Commission for Edward Theodore Wagernowski, an employee <br />of Torrington Company was approved and ordered placed on file. <br />POLICE AUXILIARY SCHOOL PATROL ( WOODSON ) <br />An application- for Police Auxiliary School Patrol from Sally M. Woodson <br />was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />COMPLIMENT: SOUTH BEND CIVIC PLANNING ASSOCIATION <br />Miss Virginia Guthrie, Executive Secretary of the South Bend Civic Planning <br />Association, appeared before the Board and wished to go on record as a <br />representative of the South Bend civic Planning Association to compliment <br />the South Bend Police Department for their excellent security work -during <br />the recent visit of President Johnson to South Bend. <br />ELECFRICAL DEPARTMENT - PETITION (STREET LIGHT ) <br />A Petition from residents of Canderbury Drive requests the installation of <br />a street light on Canterbury Drive in front of 1035 Canterbury Drive. <br />The Petition was referred to the Electrical Department for investigation <br />and recommendation. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER: TRAFFIC SIGNS <br />Following the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, the following <br />installations were approved: <br />No Parking 6 A.M. to 9 A.M. signs installed on west. side of 100 & <br />200 N. William Streets <br />No Parking on north side of 1300 & 1400 W. Colfax Avenue. <br />No Parking signs with limit from 7 H.M. to 5 P.M. in front of <br />Riley High School, 400 E. Ewing Ave. <br />No Parking signs on Orange St., south side, from Birdsell St.. <br />to where railroad tracks cross - 50 ft. east of Birdsell. <br />No Parking This Side signs on south side of Linden Avenue, from <br />Bendix to Kaley St. <br />Yield signs installed on Rexford, both sides, at Manchester, <br />replaced with Stop Signs. <br />Stop Signs installed on both sides of Woodmant at Rexford, <br />replacing Yield Signs. <br />Two Hour time limit signs installed on east side of Dundee from <br />Sample to z block north. <br />Two Hour time limit signs 9 A.M. to 6 P.M. at 115 N. William St. <br />Two Hour time limit signs installed at 676 N.
