5-2 <br />April 13, 1964 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works & Safety was held on Monday, <br />April 139 1964 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the <br />last regular meeting were read and approved_. Vouchers were approved and. <br />ordered paid to the various suppliers.-- <br />AWARDING BID: FIRE DEPARTMENT PUMP -& HOSE CAR -, <br />Bids having been accepted from Seagrave Fire Apparatus Div., Maxim Motor <br />Company$ Brook Motor Sales and American LaFrance Corporation for a Fire <br />Truck advertised in two publications and said bids having been opened on <br />March 309 1964 and it appearing that the bid of American LaFrance Division <br />of Sterling Precision Corporation is the lowest and best bid, said contract <br />for the purchase of the Fire Truck is now awarded to the following: <br />American LaFrance Div. <br />Sterling Precision Corporation <br />Elmira, New York <br />1 - Metropolitan Model Custom Built , Cab -Ahead -Of -Engine <br />a4 <br />Class "A" 1250 G.P.M. Pump & Hose Car with Booster <br />System, Model "L" 6-cyl. 275 BAP Engine,. 300 gal. <br />Booster Tank and equipment as per advertised specifications <br />Allowance for 1940 Reg. #8072 Pumper: $29,500.00 <br />Cash Price Less 1940 Pumper $24,657.92 <br />Total Cash Price :with .Optional, Equip.($2,151.11) $26 809.08 <br />PERMISSION• ATTEND ARSON INVESTIGATOR'S SEMINAR ( FIRE DEPT. ) <br />At the request of Fire Chief McHenry, permission was granted to <br />Battalion Chief William Diedrich and Captain Thomas Latimer to attend the <br />Arson Investigator's Seminar at Purdue University, April 20 to 249 1964. <br />SPECIAL POLICE COMMISSIONS <br />The following applications for Special Police Commissions were approved <br />by the Board: Jack Eugene Inks, Louis M. Hadrick, Robert Louis Kingsafer, <br />Forrest R. West, Joseph Guy Troutman, Jr., Ora E. North and John Delancy� <br />Jr. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT DEMOTION ( CPL. E. GERSCHOFFER ) <br />Police Chief Irvin Hampton requested that Cpl. Ervin Gerschoffer be demoted <br />to the rank of Patrolman, effective April 16, 1964. This demotion is being <br />recommended at the request of Cpl. E. Gerschoffer. <br />Request granted. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( TRAFFIC SIGNS ) <br />Following the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, the following <br />installations were approved: <br />Rough. Pavement with "10 MPH" advisory speed signs attached installed <br />on Beale Street on northwest corner at Cushing and just east of 942. <br />2 Hour Time Limit signs installed to cover 830 & 838 Portage Avenue. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORTS <br />Monthly Reports for the months of January, 1964 and F'"ebru4ry,1964 from <br />the Police Department were accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT ( STREET LIGHT INSTALLATION ) <br />aton <br />Following the recommendiof Eugene E.
