changed the regulations because, 1) such examination for disease did <br />not protect the public, and 2) becaum of the expense involved. <br />Restaurants are now checked periodically by the Health Department and <br />flagrant disregard to requirements can result in lose of license. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT: PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE ( 2 PASSENGER CARS ) <br />Permission was granted to the Building Department to advertise for <br />2 1964 passenger cars, 2 Door Sedans for use by the Building Depart- <br />ment. Two cars will be offered in trade. <br />Advertisements will be placed in The South Bend Tribune and The Tri- <br />County News on March 69 March 13t 1964. Sealed bids will be opened <br />on March 23, 1964. <br />APPOINTMENT: POLICE DEPARTMENT ( R. E. GREENE, <br />Comes now Police Chief Hampton with a written report concerning <br />one Roland E. Greene, applicant for the Police, Department. <br />Chief Hampton, in his report, advises the Board that Mr. Greene has <br />passed all written and mental requirements necessary -for appointment <br />to the Police Department, that he has also passed all physical <br />examinations and on February 270 1964 he appeared before the Trustees <br />of the Pension Fund and satisfactorily passed this oral interview. <br />After due examination of the report and upon the recommendation of <br />the Police Chief, the Board now approves the appointment of Roland <br />E. Greene to the Police Department, effective March 2, 1964. <br />SPECIAL POLICE BONDS (TORRINGTON ) <br />Special Police Bonds for the following employees of Torrington <br />Company were approved by the Board and ordered placed on file: <br />Frank Sochocki, Jr., and Louis F. Tomshock. <br />These bonds are newals. <br />APPLICATIONS: FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />The following applications for the Fire Department were accepted and <br />ordered placed on file: Thomas Harry Rulli and Donald Francis <br />Karczewski. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( TRAFFIC SIGNS ) <br />Following the recommendation of Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, the <br />following installations were approved: <br />1. Polk Street made one way south from Jefferson Boulevard <br />to lst alley south of Jefferson. <br />2. No Parking signs installed on east side of Polk Street <br />from Jefferson Boulevard to 1st cross alley south of <br />Jefferson. <br />3. 2 Hour time limit signs installed in front of 321 S. <br />Notre Dame Avenue. <br />There being no further business to come_ before the Board, the meeting <br />was adjourned at 11:15 A.M. <br />ttest: Ric/hDuck',__3iezk <br />1 <br />1 <br />u <br />
