March 29, 1964 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />March 2, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. All members -were present.:, Minutes of,.the <br />last regular meeting and the special meeting were read and approved. <br />Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT: HOUSE MOVE (L.W E TO S LOGAN ) <br />With reference to the house move from Lincoln Way East to S. Logan <br />Street, said house being owned,by Mr..J. H. Mitschelen, comes now <br />Mr. Forrest West, Building Commissioner, with proof of notification <br />for said house move. <br />Mr. James Dowdy being the only other.inter.ested property owner -.in the <br />block involved in the moving of a house from 921 Lincoln Way East to <br />229 S. Logan Street and proof of notice being filed with the Board, the <br />Board now considered the application for said move. <br />Therebeingno objections and Mr. Dowdy having failed to appear, <br />said application for the moving of the house is now approved. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT: SUB -STANDARD DIV ( HEARINGS ) <br />Comes now Paul Schwertley, attorney representing owner of property <br />located at 321 S. Kentucky Street in response to request to appear <br />to -show cause why property has not been brought up to standard or <br />demolished in accordance with demolition order. <br />Mr. Schwertley requested a continuance to allow time to contact heirs <br />in California to determine whether there are sufficient funds to <br />accomplished demolition. <br />Hearing continued until March 23, 1964. <br />Comes now Mr. Willis Devine, owner of a building at 261 N. Chicago <br />Street to show cause why building has not been brought up to <br />standard, which was a condition when the building was moved to this <br />present site. <br />Mr. Grabarz informed the Board that as a result of the moving, the <br />house had been split in two and the building is a hazard. Mr. Devine <br />has failed to repair house. Mr. Grabarz also advised the Board that <br />the siding must be removed in order to examine studdings. <br />After hearing Mr. Devine who stated that he had a carpenter who was <br />going -to -repair the house, it was the decision of the Board that <br />the hearing be continued for one week. A condition of the continuance <br />is that Mr. Devine arrange to have all siding removed by March 4, 1964 <br />so that the Sub -Standard Division personnel may examine the studdings, <br />and .that hearing be held on March 9, 1964. If, by March 9, 1964 the <br />siding has not been removed so that a complete examination of the <br />structure can be made, the Board will assume that the structure is in <br />bad condition and not worth the necessary repairs. <br />Comes now Mr. Reuben Blad, owner of property located at 715 S. Meade <br />Street. Mr. Ettl, attorney, had previously appeared and requested <br />and received an extension of time with the stipulation that all <br />windows be boarded up. <br />Mr. Grabarz now advises t-he_-Board-that this has not been done. <br />
