January 27, 1964 <br />A regular meeting of t W Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />January 27, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes <br />of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were <br />approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />REPORT: RAILROAD CROSSINGS ( TRAFFIC ENGINEER ) <br />Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, submitted a report with reference <br />to the poor condition of railroad crossings of the New York Central <br />System in South Bend. The crossings are as follows: <br />1. Sample and Olive - where protruding spikes cause tire <br />damage. <br />2. Ford Street crossing <br />3. The 1600 block of Lincoln Way West. <br />Mr. Hazinski reported that he had written to Mr. R. L. Teeter, <br />Division Engineer for the New York Central System in Chicago, Illinois <br />and that he had spoken to Mr. Teeter on the telephone this date <br />and Mr. Teeter had promised to take care of these tracks. Mr. <br />Hazinski advised the Board that he had requested a written confirma- <br />tion from Mr. Teeter. <br />TRAFFIC SIGN INSTALLATION: (TRAFFIC ENGINEER <br />Following the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, the following <br />installation was approved: <br />No Parking signs installed to cover 2002 Elwood Avenue. <br />INSTALLATION APPROVAL: -STREET LIGHT ( ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT ) <br />Following the recommendation of Eugene Radecki, Superintendent of <br />the Elctrical Department, as the result of a Petition filed with <br />the Board, the installation is approved: <br />1-4000 Lumen OH street light installed at 2328 Inglewood <br />Court. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT: DEMOTION ( J. ANDRZEJEWSKI ) <br />Following the recommendation of the Fire Chief, the Board approved <br />the demotion of Jack Andrzejewski to the rank of Private in the <br />Fire Departmentp effective February 1, 1964. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT: PROMOTIONS ( BUKOWSKI AND CUNNINGHAM ) <br />With reference to suggested promotions "of Jack J. Bukowski and <br />Daniel Cunningham, it was the decision of the Board to take action <br />on these suggested promotions at the next regular meeting of the <br />Board. <br />PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE: REMODELING OF FIRE STATION # 4 <br />Permission was granted to place advertisements in The South -Barid <br />Tribune and The Tri-County News for bids for remodeling of Fire <br />Station No. 4. Bids will be opened on February 17, 1964 at 10:00 <br />A.M. or as soon thereafter as the Board's attention may be obtained. <br />
