73. <br />PROPOSED JACKET ( POLICE DEPARTMENT) <br />Police Chief Hampton...suggested approval on a new type of jacket for <br />the Police Department as an additional jacket and not to replace <br />any other part of the present uniform. The jacket is insulated and <br />light weight nylon with warmth without bulk. The price is $25.50 <br />and the jacket is now worn by the Indiana State Police. <br />After hearing Chief Hampton and examining the jacket, the Board <br />requested that the Police Department to select the exact type of <br />jacket and prepare a letter to the Board describing the jacket <br />and submit such letter to the Board at its next meeting. <br />APPLICATIONS (-POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The following applications for the Police Department were accepted <br />and ordered placed on file: Commie Lee Walls, William Earl Hoyes, <br />Gerald Joseph Grontkowski, Terry MacArthur Colt. <br />as <br />APPLICATION ( POLICE AUX. SCHOOL PATROL <br />An application from Marjorie Evelyn Ciszewski for Police Auxiliary <br />School patrol was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />PETITION: ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT ( STREET LIGHT) <br />A Petition from residents of E. Bowman Street requests the installa- <br />tion of an overhead street light on Bowman Street at the first alley <br />west of Miami Street in front of 1025 E. Bowman Street. <br />The Petition was referred to the Electrical Department for examination, <br />investigation and recommendation. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS <br />Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on <br />file. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER: ATTEND $ENIN R MUNSTER,IND. <br />Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, requested permission to attend as <br />Indiana Conference of Traffic Safety on January 14, 1964 at Munster, <br />Indiana. <br />Permission granted. <br />PETITION: HI -SPEED AUTO WASH ( 720 S. MICHIGAN STREET) <br />A Petition to the Board of Public Works & Safety to take steps to <br />abate a nuisance created by the operation of an automobile washing <br />establishment known as Hi -Sneed Auto Wash at 720 S. Michigan Street <br />was submitted to the Board by business establishment owners in the <br />area. <br />The Petition states that customers of the petitioners are constantly <br />harrassed and prevented from entering into the various places of <br />business because of long lines of traffic waiting to enter the <br />establishment of said Hi -Speed Auto Wash with the result that the <br />petitioners are suffering considerable damage to their businesses. <br />The Petition was ordered accepted and placed on file. <br />RE: HI -SPEED AUTO WASH ( LETTER FROM WM VOOR) <br />A letter from Mr. William Voor, attorney, representing Indiana Homes, <br />Inc. with reference to the Hi -Speed Auto Wash at 720 S. Michigan <br />Street was submitted to the Board. <br />
