November 4,. 1963 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday,, <br />November 4, 1963 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes <br />of the last regular meeting were read and approved.. Vouchers were <br />approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />PETITION:. POLICE DEPARTMENT PENSION FUND LONGEVITY _ <br />A Petition signed by Andrew F. Orban and Edward L. Bergan,.with reference <br />to the longevity pay for.retired police officers was submitted to the <br />Board. <br />The:.,Peti,tion will. be ;8xamined and proper action will be taken after <br />examination. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT INSTALLATIONS <br />Following the recommendation of Nicholas Horvath, Electrical Department <br />Superintendent, the following installationsof street lights were <br />approved: <br />1 - 4000 lumen street light at 1208 Van Buren St. <br />7 - 4000 lumen street lights in the "Highland Estates" lst and 2nd <br />Sections (Hartman Builders, Inc.) <br />1 - 4000 lumen street light in the 2000 block College Street. <br />PETITIONS: STREET LIGHTS ' <br />The following Petitions requesting street light installations were <br />referred to the Electrical Department for investigation and recommendation: <br />1 - Petition from Ed Levin and others for a street light on East LaSalle <br />Avenue between E. St. Louis and E. St. Peter Street. <br />2. - Petition from E. LaSalle Avenue area for two street': ghts in a <br />paved alley from Scott Street to Cushing between Oak and LaSalle Ave. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER TRAFFIC SIGNSS) <br />Following the recommendation of Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, the <br />following in,*,tallations were approved: <br />Stop Signs installed on 30thyStreet, both sides, at Hastings Street, <br />making a 4-way stop intersection. <br />E <br />2 Hour Time Limit signs installed to cover 1416 and 1419 Mishawaka Avenue. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS <br />Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />REQUEST: USE OF FIRE STATIONS FOR X-RAY_j T.B_LEAGUE__I_• <br />The St. Joseph County Tuberculosis League submitted a written request to <br />use the following Fire Stations in connection with X-Ray operations <br />in January, 1964. Because of weather conditions the League feels that <br />to operate effectively the busses used in connection with the X-Ray <br />program should be placed with some protection for the workers and people <br />who often stand in line. <br />The Board approved the use of the following Fire Stations, provided <br />the League does not interfere with the regular duties of the firemen: <br />Thursday, January 9 Fire Station, 1000 lincoln Way East <br />Monday, January 13 Fire Station, 1210 Thomas Street <br />Tuesday, January 14 Fi-r-e--Station, 4302 Western Ave. <br />
