October 28, 1963 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />October 28, 1963 at 10:00 A.M. Messrs. R. S. Andrysiak and Edwin <br />L. Davies were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were <br />read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the <br />various suppliers. <br />PETITION: STREET LIGHT(VAN BUREN STREET) <br />A Petition from residents of the area of VanBuren, Cleveland and <br />Lindsey Streets requesting the installation of a street light <br />in the 1200 b lock of VanBuren Street, specifically Pole Number <br />532 in I & M Section J 234 was:7referred to the Electrical Depart- <br />ment for investigation and recommendation. <br />STREET LIGHT INSTALLATION <br />Following the recommendation of Nicholas Horvath, Electrical <br />Department Superintendent, the installation of 1 - 4000 lumen <br />street light at McKinley and Francis Street. <br />LETTER OF APPRECIATIONN(aTOP SIGNS_ INSTALLATION, <br />A letter of appreciation for the prompt installation of stop <br />'sign''=s at Victoria and Marina and Victoria and Clyde Streets <br />was received from Mrs. James J. Cierzniak, accepted and ordered <br />placed on file. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER TRAFFIC SIGN INSTALLATIONS <br />Following the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, the following <br />installations were approved: <br />Stop signs installed on Twyckenham Drive, both sides, at Rockne Drive, <br />making this a 4-way stop intersection. <br />Stop signs installed on Jefferson, both sides, at Camden making <br />this a 4-way stop. <br />Yield sign installed on Hass St., southeast corner, at Hepler. <br />Yield sign installed on Dale St., both sides, at Oakside. <br />Stop sign installed on Dale Street, both sides, at Eckman. <br />Stop signs installed on Carroll St., both sides, at Eckman St. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS_ <br />Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on <br />file. <br />APPLICATION: FIRE DEPARTMENT_ <br />An application from Robert James Urbanski for the Fire Department <br />was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE: POLICE DEPARTMENT_( 4 THREE WHEEL MOTORCYCLES <br />Permission was given to the Police Department to advertise for <br />the purchase of 4 1964 Three Wheel Motorcycles. Advertisements <br />will be placed in The South Bend Tribune and The Record on Nobeinber <br />1 and November 89 1963. Sealed bids will be opened on November 12, <br />1963. <br />BOND RENEWAL: SPECIAL POLICE ( KESTER <br />A renewal of a Special Police Bond for Allen E. Kester, employed by <br />Radio & TV Distributing Co. was approved and ordered placed on file. <br />MONTHLY REPORT: POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />A report for the month of September, 1963 from the Police Department <br />was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />
