September 239 1963 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />September 23, 1963 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes <br />of the last regular meeting and the special meeting were read and <br />approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various <br />suppliers. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: REPORTS ON PROBATIONARY FIREMEN <br />The Board accepted recommendations from Fire Chfef Andrzejewski for <br />the following probationary firemen: <br />Fireman Clarence JJ.Kgminski - 6 Months Probation Period: Written <br />recommendation favorable. <br />Thomas A. Baliliewicz - 9 Month Probation Period: Written recommenda- <br />tion favorable. Recommended that he be accepted as a first class <br />fireman on South Bend Fire Department. <br />Thomas J. Jozwia - 9 Months Probation Period: Written recommendation <br />favorable. Recommended that he be accepted as a first class fireman <br />on the South Bend Fire,Department. <br />The written reports were ordered placed on file since they- were <br />accepted by the Board as written. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT: REQUEST FOR CANOPY ( WM. J. PAULSON) <br />Comes now Louis Smogor, Building Commissioner, and requests permission <br />for Mr. William J. Paulson to approve a two foot projection into public <br />property by William J. Paulson, 1248 W. Washington Avenue. <br />Permission granted, subject to insurance for $100,000 and $300,000 <br />aggregate accident and $25,000 property damage. Said insurance to <br />indemnify the City of South Bend and be continuous. <br />SUILBIND DEPARTMENT: SUB -STANDARD DIVISIONHEARINGS <br />Comes now John Grabarz, Diector of the Sub -Standard Division of the <br />Building Department, and also Mr. and Mrs. Phillips, 225 S. Lake Street <br />with reference to the property. Mr. Grabarz advised that Mr. and Mrs. <br />Phillips had been ordered to appear to show cause why property had not <br />bee demolished, as ordered. <br />After hearing all who wished to be heard, it was the decision of the <br />Board to proceed with demolition and advertise for said demolishment. <br />Comes now Mr. Jones of 320 Hamden Court. Mr. Jones was ordered to <br />repair property and time has not expired. <br />Mr. Jones advised the Board that he is buying property on Land Contract <br />and requested continuance of two wedks. <br />The Board granted a continuance of 6 weeks or November 4, 1963. <br />With reference to property located at 1302,Chapin') also being purchased by <br />Mr. Jones, the time to repair this property will expire at midnight, <br />this date. Mr. Jones has no interest in this property and the Board <br />granted a two week continuance to allow time for him to notify Mr. <br />Otto Pozgay, former owner. <br />With reference to property located at 324 N. Francis Street, which is <br />an Estate, Mr. Grabarz was granted permission to Advertise for demolish- <br />ment proceedings and -to so no-tify Estate. <br />J <br />E <br />
