June 3, 1963 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />June 3, 1963 at 10:00 A.M. Messrs. R. S. Andrys-iak and Irving J. <br />Smith were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read <br />and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various <br />suppliers. <br />—_••— — -._.YL+_L�r�ny� v_lv�-uuHx JIx�Ct x�Yuxi) 1xAFFIG ENGINEER <br />Clem'Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, submitted a report to the Board on his <br />findings as a result of an intensive investigation on a one-way street <br />system installed experimentally on Beverly Place between Lathrop and <br />Oakwood and Inglewood Place between Lathrop & Oakwood <br />The purpose of the>:orr.Tway system was to determine whether recently - <br />installed system on Beverly Place has relieved a dangerous situation <br />without causing great inconvenience and/or other hazards. <br />In his Report Mr. Hazinski pointed out that Beverly Place is one-way <br />north from Oakwood Boulevard to Lathrop Street and Lathrop Street is <br />one way east from Beverly Place to Inglewood Courti a total distance <br />of approximately two and one-half blocks. Berkley Place intersects <br />Beverly Place at an acute angle midway between Oakwood and Lathrop. <br />Inglewood Place is the first two-way street east of Beverly Place <br />which runs from Lathrop to Oakwood. <br />The Report contained a detailed account of volume of traffic, speed <br />studies and general information pertinent to the subject. <br />As a result of his Report, Mr. Hazinski made the following recommendations: <br />1. Widen Beverly Place to 30 feet between Oakwood and Lathrop <br />Streets and widen Lathrop to its full width of 40 feet <br />between Beverly and Riverside Drive (Barrett Law.) <br />2. Allow one-way system to remain in effect until the above - <br />mentioned improvements are completed and enforced as such. <br />3. Post a reduced speed limit on Beverly Place. <br />The Report was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />Comes now Mr. Don.Yates, 2218 Inglewood Place to object to the rest of <br />the neighborhood being inconvenienced because of a situation involving <br />only Beverly Place. <br />Mr. Yates agreed that the one-way system should remain in effect until <br />6treet ie� widened under-Bars.ett Law. <br />Comes now Mr. David Koehler, 2149 Beverly Place to disagree that the <br />system is an inconvenience.. He did agree that some of the problem might <br />be solved by the elimination of curb parking on Beverly. <br />The Board, having heard the remonstrators who wished to be heard and <br />having fully examined the Report submitted by Mr. gazinski, took the <br />matter under advisement and will make its findings on or before the next <br />meeting of the Board. . <br />
