`2 May 13, 1963 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, May 13, 1963 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. OPENING AND AWARDING OF BIDS: BUILDING DEPARTMENT SEDANS The time now being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and bids for 2 sedans for the Building Department were opened and read aloud. Proofs of Publication from The South Bend Tribune with affidavit signed by Robert DeLong and The Record with affidavit signed by W. Joseph Doran were found sufficient. The following bids were received: Freeman -Spicer Co.. Inc. 520 S. Lafayette Blvd. South Bend 24, Ind. Two - 1963 Studebaker Sedans (VF2) - 2 Door Special Discounted Price for 2 cars- $4,337.46 Less Federal Tax for 2 cars 342.86 _ $3,994.60 Less Trade-in One car 200.00 Total Met delivered price for two cars $39794.60 Certified check for $400.60 signed by Victor Freeman, Pres. Non -collusion Affidavit, signed by Victor Freeman, Pres. Newman & Altman, Inc_ 220 E. Jefferson Blvd. South Bend 1, Ind. 2 - New 1963 Studebaker Cars, Model 63V-F2 Total Cost of Car $29377.81 $49755.62 Less E.O.H. & Discount 700.00 $4,055.62� Less Trade-in of 1958 Scotsman 2 Door Wagon 320.62 Total Price of 2 Cars $3,735.00 Certified check for $375.00, signed by Nate Altman Non-Eollusion Affidavit, signed by N. D. Altman, Secy. Treas. It appearing that Newman & Altman has the lowest and best bid, the Board hereby awards the contract for 2 Cars to Newman & Altman, subject to conformity to the specifications. BUILDING DEPARTMENT: CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE ( OFFICE ENGINEERS The Board approved Certificate of Insurance from Office Engineers, indemnifying the City of South Bend for injury and/or property damage in connection with the construction of an overhang at their office building on Michigan Street, South Bend, Ind. The Certificate was ordered placed on file. BUILDING DEPARTMENT: CONSTRUCTION OF CANOPY ( WESTERN AVE., SUPERMARKET) The Board approved the construction of an overhanging- canopy on a supermarket now under construction at 2602 Western Avenue, subject to compliance with the Building Codes and upon receipt of Proof of Insurance indemnifyi-ng-t-he--City of --South Bend for individual accident [1 I
