w <br />Mr. ftazinski was requested to continue his vigilance to effect boating <br />safety on the river. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE - CARS <br />Comes now Louis Smogor, Building Commissioner, and requests permission <br />to advertise for two Lark 2-Door Sedans for the use of the Department. <br />The Board, being advised that there is sufficient money in the budget <br />for such a purchase, directed that advertisements be placed in The <br />South Bend Tribune and The Record on May 3 and May 109 1963. Sealed <br />bids will be opened on May 13, 1963. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION HEARINGS <br />Comes now John Grabarz, Sub -Standard Director, and reports that he <br />has received replies from parties of interest with reference to the <br />property located at 126 N. St. Louis Boulevard. The owners of this <br />property and their attorney have been advised to appear before the <br />Board to show cause why repair orders have not been complied -with. <br />Failure to do so would result in demolition of the property. <br />Since these parties of interest failed to appear, it was the decision <br />of the Board that Mr. Grabarz advertise for bids for demolition. <br />Mr. Grabarz reported that property located at 2123 Merry Avenue, estate <br />of George and Mary Kovach, deceased, which property is subject to a <br />lien by the Department of Public Welfare, has been vacant for two or <br />three years and is a sub -standard dwelling. <br />Since repairs have not been made and since notices have been sent to <br />the parties of interest, Mr. Grabarz requested permission to <br />advertise for bids for demolition. <br />Permission granted. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT: ATTEND MEETING W�L._T. SCHMIDT ) <br />Fire Chief Alex Andrzejewski requested permission to send William T. <br />Schmidt to attend the 67th Annual Meeting (Aviation Seminar) of the <br />National Fire Protection Association, in Portland, Oregon on May 10 <br />to May 19, 1963. <br />This meeting will be attended by fire protection experts from United <br />States, Canade and foreign countries. <br />The Fire Department is allowing $50.00 for expenses. The balance of <br />the expense towards the trip is to be taken care of by the Firemen's <br />Association. <br />Permission granted. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT: MONTHLY REPORT_ <br />A Report for the month of April, 1963 was submitted by the Police <br />Department. <br />The Report was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT: APPLICATION <br />An application for the Fire Department from Robert William Drajer <br />was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />
