April 89 1963 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was `held on Monday, <br />April 81 1963 at 10:00 A`.M. All members were present. Minutes of the <br />last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved <br />and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />AWARDING OF BIDS: POLICE DEPARTMENT(_MOTORCYCLES), <br />The bid.. for the motorcycles for the Police Departments having been <br />examined, is hereby awarded: <br />Harley-Davidson Sales_ <br />526 Western Ave. <br />South Bend, Ind. <br />3 - Two Wheel Motorcycles and 1 Sidecar <br />Total cost of equipment $5,433.45 <br />Less Trade-in 1,125.00 <br />~$41,308.45" <br />Plus Freight _ 60.00 <br />�$3, 268.45~ <br />APPROVAL: POLICE DEPARTMENT CARNIVAL <br />The Board granted permission for the F.O.P. Lodge #36 to 'spo6sor a <br />Carnival from June 10 to 23 at Marycrest property on Western Avenue and <br />from June 24 through June 29, 1963 at Shoppers Fair, Lincolnway East, <br />The show ls:operated by Key City Company, Columbus, Ohio. Permission <br />has been obtained to hold the Carnival at the above locations. <br />APPROVAL: POLICE SHOW <br />Permission was granted to the F.O.P. Lodge #36 to hold the annual Police <br />Show at School Field on July 18, 19 and 20, 1963 with a rain date of July <br />21. <br />ATTEND ORDINANCESCHOOL_ (LT. C.C. KOLBER_J <br />Permission was granted to Lt. C. Kolber, assigned to the Civil Defense <br />staff to attend an Ordinance School at National Guard Armory, Elkhart, <br />Indiana on April 9 and April'10, 1963. Lt. Kolber will use Staff Car <br />and will return to South Bend at conclusion of each day's session. <br />ACCIDENT REPORTS( POLICE DEPARTMENT) <br />The Police Department submitted 2 non -injury accident reportswhich were <br />accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />APPLICATION: POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />An application for the Police Department from John Charles Turner was <br />accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />RE: COAL DUST COMPLAINT ROSE MAL & FUEL COMPANY <br />At the meeting of the South Bend Common Council on March 25, 1963, <br />Councilman Muszynski again directed the attention of the Council to the <br />complaints about coal dust. <br />Councilman Allen moved that the Council, as a body, go on record as <br />being heartily in sympathy with people in the area and that these <br />sentiments be transmitted by the Clerk to the Board of Public Works <br />& Safety so that they may proceed to eliminate this nuisance acting <br />under Chapter 13, Section 41 of the Municipal :ode of South Bend. <br />The Council also requested a report for the April 8 meeting. <br />After this report was submitted to the Board, the Board reported the <br />
