3-8 <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT REQUEST FOR FOUR DOOR SEDAN ) <br />Nicholas Horvath, Electrical Department Superintendent, and requests <br />permission to advertise for one Four Door Sedan. <br />Permission granted and advertisements will be placed in The South <br />Bend Tribune and The Record on March 1,-March 8, 1963. Bids will <br />be opened on March 11, 1963. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( REQUEST FOR FOUR WAY STOP SIGNS - MEADE AND FORD STS. ) <br />Councilman Chester Muszynski appeared before the Board to request <br />a four way stop sign installation on Meade and Ford Streets. He <br />advised the Board that he was appearing on behalf of the residents <br />of his District who claimed the four way stop was badly needed. <br />Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, informed the:;Board that he had run <br />a check at this intersection and his investigation showed that there <br />was no need for four way stop signs. <br />After hearing both Councilman Muszynski and Mr. Hazinski, the Board <br />directed Mr. Hazinski to conduct another investigation and report <br />findings to the Board. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER ATTEND ROAD SCHOOL <br />Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, requested permission to attend a <br />Road School at Purdue University on March 26 through March 29, 1963. <br />He also requested that his assistant be permitted to attend. He <br />claimed that there was sufficient money in the budget for this trip. <br />Permission granted. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT ATTEND NATIONAL PISTOL CHAMPIONSHIPS <br />Police Chief Harman appeared before the Board to request permission <br />to send'five men on the -Police Pistol Team to represent the South <br />Bend P okice Department'in the 1963 Mid -winter National Pistol <br />Championships at'Tampa, Florida. <br />At present there are 8 men participating in the elimination practices <br />which will determine who the five are that will represent the Department <br />at this event. <br />Expenses for this match will be paid for out of the team's own fund <br />and from a working agreement with the F.O.P. The Match is to be <br />held in Tampa, Florida between March 12 and March 16,-1963. <br />Permission granted. <br />PETITION: RE: PARKING AT CAR WASH ESTABLISHMENTS ( MR. KOUOOVTHAKIS) <br />Mr. Gus Koucovthakis, operator of Gussy's Shoe Repair, 736 S. Michigan <br />Street, appeared before the Board to request that double parking1-be <br />eliminated in the 700 block of South Michigan Street where Five Minute <br />Car 'Wash is located. <br />Mr. Koucovthakis informed the Board that double parking in front of his <br />establishment was disrupting his business. Police officers were called <br />and condition was corrected, but after the officer left the double <br />parking continued. He requested that off duty police be at the scene <br />as planned. <br />After hearing the complaint, the Board referred the matter to Clem <br />Hazinski and the Chief of Police. Mr. Hazinski contended that this <br />matter was a misunderstanding between the Car Wash owner and the Police <br />Department. The matter was -referred to Chief Harman and Inspector <br />Nicholas of Traffic. <br />
