It was the decision of the Board to award the Baal to A & J Demolition Co. <br />for $225.00. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT PROMOTION-- PATROL N,J.. --------.� -+J PERKINS <br />Following the recommendation of Chief of Police Harman, the Board approved <br />the promotion of Patrolman Jerome J. Perkins to the rank of Detective. <br />Sergeant.," effective January 1, 1963. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT ( MOVE OUr OF CITY LIMITS - B. J. REITER ) <br />Following the recommendation of Police.Chief Harman, the Board granted <br />permission to Radio'Technician Bernard J. Reiter to move out of the city <br />limits. Chief Harman informed the Board that Officer Reiter had been a <br />member of the Police Force since,October 6, 1947 which is sufficient time <br />served to make the proposed move confbrm to the Department regulations. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT ( ATTEND CIVIL DEFENSE SCHOOL - LT. C. KOLBER ) <br />Subject to approval of the Civil Defense Advisory Board, the Board granted <br />permission to Lt. C. Kolber to attend a Shelter Management School at the <br />�0 Civil Defense School in Battle Creek, Michigan from January 209 to January <br />25, 1963. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT ACCIDENT' REPORTS <br />Accident reports involving Police Department vehicles were accepted and <br />ordered placed on file. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT <br />A report from the Police Department for the month of November, 1962 was <br />accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />POLICE DEPA� RTMENT-i APPLICATION <br />An application for the Police Department for Charles Reid Youts was accepted <br />and ordered placed on file. <br />SPECIAL POLICE MM_?4SSION AND BONDS <br />The Board approved the following: <br />1. Special Police Commission and Bond for Boyd Jimerson, employed by South <br />Bend Tribune. <br />2. Special Police Bond for Allen E. Kester. <br />3. Special Police Bond for John James Leader. <br />RE: MCKLNLEY_LAGOON - ICE SKATING ( TRAFFIC ENGINEER ) <br />The Board directed that a letter be forwarded to Mr. Maynard Wilson, 727 <br />Hickory Road, South Bend, Indiana with reference to ice skating on McKinley <br />Lagoon. <br />It was the understanding of the Board that Mr. Wilson had again volunteered <br />to head a committee of residents in the McKihley Lagoon vicinity to check on <br />the safety of the ice on the lagoon and hoist a danger flag when, in the <br />opinion of the committee, the ice is unsafe for skating. <br />It was the understanding of the Board that the committee has assumed full <br />responsibility and that the City of South Bend will not be held liable for <br />injury due to accident, or property damage. <br />If the orders of the committee concerning the safety of the ice are disobeyed <br />or ignored by children wishing to skate on the lagoon, the committee will call <br />,the police for assistance in enforcing their ruling. <br />
