8i <br />October 22, 1962 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety wa.� held on Monday,, <br />October 22, 1962 at 10:00 A.M. Messrs. R. S. Andrysiak and Irving <br />J. Smith were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read <br />and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various <br />suppliers. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT ( TOWN TOWER MOTEL - ERECf SIGN ) <br />Comes now Mra.,.Peck of the Building'Department and requests permission <br />for the Town tower to erect a sign at Town Tower Motel. Mr. Peck <br />submitted a sketch showing the location of the proposed sign. <br />The matter was taken under advisement and studied, and it was the <br />decision of the Board that since an encroachment on public property <br />was found to be at grade and only a matter of a couple of inches <br />permission to erect the sign was granted. Insurance in usual amount requested. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( HEARINGS ) <br />Comes now John Grabarz, Director of the Sub -Standard Division of the <br />Building Department and advises the Board that Mr. Harold Koehler, <br />55316 Hickory Road, Mishawaka who was also present at this meeting, <br />had stated that he has purchased the property commonly known as.106-106i <br />S. St. Louis Blvd. from Mrs. Dorothy Grose. <br />The Board ruled that Mr. Koehler appear on.:Wednesday morning, October <br />24, 1962 at "Sf30 A.M. with documents to show proof of purchase of <br />this property to the satisfaction of the Sub -Standard Division of <br />the Building Department. <br />If these orders are not carried out, Mr. Grabarz was authorized to <br />advertise for demolishment of this property; said advertisements to <br />be submitted on Wednesday noon, October 24, 1962. <br />A progress report on property located at 527 Euclid Avenue and belonging <br />to the White Estate was presented by attorney Harry Taylor. Mr. <br />Taylor informed the Board that he had contacted the attorneys for said <br />Estate in Chicago and requested that they be present at a hearing with <br />reference to this property. The attorneys failed to appear. <br />It was the decision of the Board that Mr. Grabarz prepare to advertise <br />for demolition of this property and to notify Mr. Taylor of this <br />intention so that he may relay the information to the attorneys for <br />this Estate. <br />With reference to property located at 1613 W. Ewing Avenue, represented <br />bu Mr. Nemeth, attorney, Mr. Grabarz reported that Mr. Nemeth had been <br />requested to appear before the Board on this date. Since. he failed to <br />appear, it was the decision of the Board that demolition orders be <br />prepared and notification of such intention be forwarded to Mr. Nemeth. <br />With reference to property owned by Glen R. and Sara Moody, located at <br />418 W. Madison St., at the recommendation of Mr. Grabarz, this hearing <br />was continued until October 29, 1962. <br />CIVIL DEFENSE ( DEMONSTRATION - F- FULTON OOUNfy <br />John Klaybor, Director of St. Joseph County Civil Defense, was.granted <br />permission to move Civil Defense equipment to the Fulton County Four-H <br />Fair Grounds on October 25, 1962 in order to conduct a demonstration of <br />Civil Defense equipment capabilities in the event of a major disaster. <br />The program will begin at 5:00 P.M. EST and will be concluded at 7:00 P, <br />M. <br />
