93 <br />October 15, 1962 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />October 15, 1962 at 10:00 A.M. DST. All members were present. Minutes <br />of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were <br />approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />BUILDInG DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( HEARINGS ) <br />Comes now Mr. Sam Bernstein, owner of property located at 16081 Prairie <br />Avenue to show cause why property, which is now vacant and has been <br />seriously damaged by vandals,'has not been brought up to standard. <br />Mr. Bernstein requested six months continuance. This request was <br />granted by the Board with the stipulation that windows be boarded up <br />immediately and all precautions to protect property from vandals be <br />done in.accordance with the Building Department's specifications. <br />At the end of this six month period, property must be brought up to <br />standard or property will be ordered demolished. <br />With reference to property located at 106-1061 S. St. Louis Blvd., <br />Mr. Grabarz reported that Mrs. Dorothy Gross has buyer for property <br />and requested to withhold action for°one week. <br />It was the decision of the Board that Mrs. Grose appear with buyer <br />and approved contracts for this property. Otherwise, order will be <br />given to advertise for bids for demolishment. <br />Rev. John H. Bowles appeared with reference to property located at <br />527 Euclid Avenue and to show cause why he had failed to appear on <br />October 1, 1962 and submit list of estimated cost from various <br />contractors to bring property up to standard as ordered by the Board. <br />Rev. Bowles claimed that Mr. Harry Taylor, attorney, had been ill and <br />was unable to represent him at this hearing. <br />It was the decision of the Board that Mr. Grabarz send notice by <br />registered mail to Mr. Taylor that case would be continued for one <br />week. <br />Mr. Peter Nemeth, attorney for Estate of Joseph and Helen Vida, 1613 W. Ewing, <br />requested a aDntinuance before demolition order is carried out, in <br />order to determind whether it is feasible to make repairs. <br />Request granted and hearing continued for one week. <br />A report on property located at 416 Pennsylvania Avenue was given by <br />Mr. Grabarz. He reported that there is a new owner and requested a <br />continuance in order to contact new owner concerning this property. <br />Permission granted and case continued for sixth days or until December <br />17, 1962. <br />-- - ..�...,.�,.. "n,,,nv_t►u orue - w. wAbKlNVT©N <br />Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, was ordered by the Board of Public <br />Works 8 Safety to contact the New York Central Railroad concerning <br />hazardous condition of its spur tracks <br />the <br />Avenue. The Board further stated that <br />in the <br />unless <br />1700 block of W. Washington <br />some action is taken <br />this hazard the Board will take steps <br />to see <br />on <br />that repairs are made. <br />Mr. Hazinski was directed by the Board <br />to submit a report on his proigress. <br />
