Michigan Street was submit*4 to the Board, <br />examined, approved and prdered placed on file. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( ATTEND ODNFERENCE ) <br />Permission was granted Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer and Gregory <br />Armstrong, Assistant.Traffic Engineer, to attend a Traffic Signal <br />School in Moline, Illinois from October 81, 1962 through October 11, <br />1962. Mr. Hazinski informed the Board that the only expense will be <br />for transportation. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER - REPORT ON PETITION „i_AUXILIARY POLI 'H <br />TARKINGTON SCHOOL <br />Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, submitted a report following a <br />study of traffic conditions at the intersection of Manchester and <br />Edison, between the hours of 10:30 and 11:50 A.M. The petitioners <br />requested additional police protection at this location because of <br />children crossing from kindergarten sessions at Booth Tarkington <br />School. <br />Mr. Hazinski's report indicated that between the hours of 10s15 and 11:15 <br />A.M* ten children crossed from north to south and these children were <br />led by patrol boys. Several parents were also present to escort the <br />children. Vehicular traffic is light at this time of days - <br />In the opi6ion of the Traffic Engineer, as a result of this study, <br />warrants do not exist at the present time for further duty by a <br />policewoman. Observation will continue, however, and recommendations <br />will be made as changes occur. <br />Following the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, request for <br />additional auxiliary police is denied. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT: ATTEND A+EETING ( PVT. WM. SCHMIDT <br />Permission was granted to Private William Schmidt of the Fire Department, <br />to attend the National Fire Protection Association Sectional Committee <br />Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting on November 11, 1962 through November <br />14, 19629 in New York City. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT: ( CAPT. RICHARD J. DCR C - PENSION ) <br />Following the approval of the Firemen's Pension Fund, the Board <br />approved the pensioning of Capt. Richard J. Duck after twenty-five <br />years and fifteen days as a member of the Department. <br />Capt. Duck will be granted 55% of a fully paid first class firemen's <br />salary which allowment%is purrwant to law made and provided for the <br />disability retirement phase of -the Pension Fund and shall become effective <br />October 16, 1962. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENTS ATTEND CONFERENCES( CHIEF OF POLICE ) <br />Police Chief Orson E. Harman was granted permission to attend a meeting <br />of the Governor's Youth Council at Indianapolis, Indiana on October <br />2, 1962. Permission was also granted to attend the International <br />Association of Chiefs of Police Conference at St. Louis, Missouri <br />from October 6 through October 119 1962. <br />
