1 <br />1 <br />September 4, 1962 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was hold on Monday, <br />September 4, 1962 at 1000 A.M. All members were present. Minutes " <br />of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were <br />approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />GR a I ON 9E MAUI C S I,ONALS H B V UE & I NROAD) <br />The City of South Bend entered into an Agreement with the State Highway <br />Canission for the State of Indiana for the installation of traffic <br />signals at State Road 239, (South Bend Avenue) and Edison Road. <br />The Agreement for said installation which follows the usuA 1 regulations <br />for such installations was ordered placed on file in the Office of <br />the Board of Public Works & Safety. <br />TRAFFIC..F�tG.IrjER .t TRAFFIC ST_,_,GPI�, ) <br />Following the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, <br />installations were approveds <br />3 - 2 Hour time limit signs installed on south side of `100 <br />block E. Dubail to corner 112 & 110 E. Dubail. <br />2.- 2 Hour time limit signs in front of 1702 S. Michigan St. <br />Yield signs installed on Sampson St., both sides,'at'Altgeld St. <br />Yield sign installed on Sorin'St., southwest corner ,'at,Hickory Rd. <br />Yield sign installed on Corby St., southwest corner at Hickory Rd. <br />Stop Sign installed on Rexford St., southwest corner, at Hickory Rd. <br />Stop Sign installed on Brentwood Court, southeast corners at L.W.W. <br />No Parking This Side signs on Ford Street, south side, from <br />Kosciusko to Olive Sto <br />the following <br />Loading Zone signs 8 curb painted yellow at 604 N. Main St., entrance <br />to Memorial Hospital <br />2D MPH signs 8 No Parking This Side sign installed on north side <br />of Keller Street just west of Iowa Street <br />20 MPH sign installed on south side of Keller Street mid -block between <br />Illinois and Wellington Streets. <br />ELE tICAL DEPARTMENT ( STREET LiGHrs) <br />Following the recommendation of Nicholas Horvath, Superintendent of the <br />Electrical Department, the following installations were approved: <br />1 - 4000 lumen street light at 708 E. Sorin St. <br />1 - 4000 lumen street light mid 1500 Block South Taylor St. <br />PETITION. COAL DUST HAZARD-(,S HARRIS 8 IODSCIUSZKO i 1 <br />A Petition from residents of S. Harris Street and Kosciuszko.Street was <br />submitted to the Board. Said Petition complained of a coal dust hazard <br />in the area. <br />The Clerk of the Board was directed to contact the Health Department and <br />ascertain the source of such hazard, so that the condition can be corrected. <br />EIRE_ ARTMENT ( CHIEF TO ATTEND CONFERENCES <br />Comes now Chief Alex Andrzejewski, and requests permission:to attend the <br />Indiana State Fire Chiefs Conference from September 11 to September 15, <br />1962. The Chief also requested permission to attend the International <br />Conference in Toronto, Canada on September 22 through September 299 1962. <br />Permission was granted for such attendance. <br />FIRE C. LE2= ATTEM 8EETING-ALSO FLARY <br />Chief Andrzejewski requested permission to send Assistant Chief, Carl <br />Leder r, to attend Purdue University# Tuesday , Septam#�e 18; 1962. <br />Captslu Flary will also attend the meeting aP Purdue University. <br />Permission granted. <br />
