August 6, 1962 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, August 6, 1962 at 10:00 A.M. DST. All members were present. Minutes of the last regular -meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. Comes now Officer James Robison and admits that the Charge was served upon him personally on August 3, 1962 and said Charge was read on this date and he further admitted the violations of Charges Nos. 59 6, 19 and 26 of the Rules and Regulations of the Police Department of South Bend, and that said violations occurred on the 29th day of July, 1962. Said Officer Robison has been suspended since July 29, 1962, and has not received any pay for the first pay period of August, beginning August 1, 1962. It was the decision of the Board that Officer Robison return to work on this date and that he will continue to work without compensation up to and including August 15, 1962. POLICE DEPARTMENT RETIREMENT ( SGT. P. J. MARKO.) The Board approved the retirement of Sgt. p. J. Marko following the expiration of his Terminal Leave which will be on September 1, 1962. POLICE DEPARTMENT PROMOTION ( OFFICER EDWARD J. DUDZINSKI 1 Following the recommendation of Police Chief Harman, the Board approved the promotion of Patrolman Edward J. Dudzinski to Uniformed Sergeant, effective September 1, 1962. Officer Dudzinski will thus be filling the vacanty created by the retirement of Sgt. Marko. FIRE DEPARTMENT ( ATTEND CONVENTION ) Fire Chief Andrzejewski was granted permission to attend the Indiana Firemen's Association Convention in Gary, Indiana on August 10, 1962. REQUEST: ( RE:BANNER FOR FIREMEN'S BALL ) The Board granted a request from the South Bend Firemen's Association, Fireman Stanley Prezestwor, Dance Chairman, to place a banner on the front of the Central Fire Station to advertise the Annual Firemen's Ball. This request is granted with the stipulation that the banner will not extend across the street, but will be attached to the building only. APPLICATION -( FIRE DEPARTMENT ) An application for the Fire Department from Commie Lee Walls was accepted*pd ordered placed on file. PETITION: ELIMINATION OF TRUCKS ( FALCON STREET') REFER TRAFFIC ENGINEER A Petition from residents of the Falcon Street area requesting the erection of Speed Control Signs and help to eliminate large truck traffic on Falcon Street from Western Avenue to Washington Avenue was referred to the Traffic Engineer for investigation and recommendation. STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file.
