August 6, 1962 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />August 6, 1962 at 10:00 A.M. DST. All members were present. Minutes <br />of the last regular -meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were <br />approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />Comes now Officer James Robison and admits that the Charge was served <br />upon him personally on August 3, 1962 and said Charge was read <br />on this date and he further admitted the violations of Charges Nos. <br />59 6, 19 and 26 of the Rules and Regulations of the Police Department <br />of South Bend, and that said violations occurred on the 29th day of <br />July, 1962. <br />Said Officer Robison has been suspended since July 29, 1962, and <br />has not received any pay for the first pay period of August, beginning <br />August 1, 1962. <br />It was the decision of the Board that Officer Robison return to work <br />on this date and that he will continue to work without compensation <br />up to and including August 15, 1962. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT RETIREMENT ( SGT. P. J. MARKO.) <br />The Board approved the retirement of Sgt. p. J. Marko following <br />the expiration of his Terminal Leave which will be on September 1, <br />1962. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT PROMOTION ( OFFICER EDWARD J. DUDZINSKI 1 <br />Following the recommendation of Police Chief Harman, the Board approved <br />the promotion of Patrolman Edward J. Dudzinski to Uniformed Sergeant, <br />effective September 1, 1962. Officer Dudzinski will thus be filling <br />the vacanty created by the retirement of Sgt. Marko. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT ( ATTEND CONVENTION ) <br />Fire Chief Andrzejewski was granted permission to attend the Indiana <br />Firemen's Association Convention in Gary, Indiana on August 10, 1962. <br />REQUEST: ( RE:BANNER FOR FIREMEN'S BALL ) <br />The Board granted a request from the South Bend Firemen's Association, <br />Fireman Stanley Prezestwor, Dance Chairman, to place a banner on <br />the front of the Central Fire Station to advertise the Annual Firemen's <br />Ball. <br />This request is granted with the stipulation that the banner will not <br />extend across the street, but will be attached to the building only. <br />APPLICATION -( FIRE DEPARTMENT ) <br />An application for the Fire Department from Commie Lee Walls was <br />accepted*pd ordered placed on file. <br />PETITION: ELIMINATION OF TRUCKS ( FALCON STREET') REFER TRAFFIC ENGINEER <br />A Petition from residents of the Falcon Street area requesting the <br />erection of Speed Control Signs and help to eliminate large truck traffic <br />on Falcon Street from Western Avenue to Washington Avenue was referred <br />to the Traffic Engineer for investigation and recommendation. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS <br />Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />INSTALLATION OF STREET LIGHTS ( ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT <br />Following the recommendation of Nicholas Horvath, Electrical Department <br />
