July 16, 1962 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />July 16, 1962 at 10:00 A.M. DST. All members were present. Minutes of <br />the.last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved <br />and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />OPENING OF BIDS ( PAINTING OF FIRE STATIONS )' <br />The time now being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and bidL for the <br />painting of certain trim of Fire Stations 5, 6, 7, g and Central Station. <br />was opened and read aloud. Proofs of Publication from The South Bend <br />Tribune with affidavig signed by Robert DeLong and The Record with <br />affidavit signed by Kathleen Sweitzer were found sufficient. <br />The following bid was received: <br />Lower Is <br />1636 Lincolnway West <br />South Bend 16, Indiana <br />For Canopy of Fire Stations No. 6, No. 7, No. S. This <br />includes scraping and applying one coat of matching color. <br />Station 5, all parts now painted one coat of matching color. <br />Central Station; all trim, eaves, downspouts and hose towers. <br />Scrape putty where necessary and prime bare spots. Will furnish <br />all labor, material, equipment and supervision to complete the <br />above work, for sum of $1,116.00 <br />Alternate No. 1 - 2nd coat at Central Station, add to <br />above 425.00 <br />Bid Bond for $155.00 signed by Wayne W. Knaak, Gen. Supt. <br />Non -Collusion Affidavit, signed by Wayne W. Knaak <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT ( APPROVAL ST. LIGHT INSTALLATIONS_) <br />Following the recommendation of Nicholas Horvath, Superintendent of the <br />Electrical Department the following installations were approved: <br />1 - 4000 lumen street light at 931 Parkway St. <br />1 - 4000 lumen street light at 915 S. Edison Ave. <br />1 - 4000 lumen street light at 1900 fllock S. Walnut Street. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS <br />Street Light Outage RBports were accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT APPOINTMENT ( WOODWARD ) <br />The Police Pension Fund Eoard of Trustees having considered the application <br />of Raymond W. Woodward and having found that said applicant meets the various <br />qualifications demanded by the Pension Fund Board, and Mr. Woodward having <br />the recommendation of Police Chief Harman, it is the decision U the Board <br />that Raymond W. Woodward be appointed as.a member of the South Bend Police <br />Department, effective July 16, 1962. <br />ATTEND SCHOOL ( POLICE DEPT. : CAPT. BADIOS <br />Following the recommendation of Police Chief Harman, Capt. R. E. Badicx was <br />given permission to attend a two-way radio service school (Motorola) in <br />the Motorola plant in Chicago from August 6, 19621to August 10, 1962. The <br />school ia.free, the only expense will be incurred in food and lodging. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT ( ATTEND MEETING) <br />Permission was granted to Verner Lane, Building Commissioner, to attend a <br />Joint Industry Advisory Committee on Rood Truss Design Membershi Roster <br />s <br />meeting in Roanoke, Virgin.- Said meeting will be held at the firginia <br />Polytechnical Institute on August 2, and August 3, 1962. <br />A <br />
