J� <br />July 2, 1962 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, July 2, <br />1962 at 10:00 A.M. DST. All members were present. Minutes of the last <br />regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered <br />paid to the various suppliers. <br />OPENING OF BIDS ( FIRE DEPARTMENT ---PUMPER <br />The time now being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and bids for <br />the 1,500 Gallon pumper for the Fire Department were opened and read <br />aloud. Proofs of Publication from The South Bend Tribune and The Record <br />were found sufficient. <br />The following bid was received"and the following Company submitted a <br />letter concernang-;the bid on Pumper: <br />The Seaarave Corporation <br />860 S. Northwest Highway <br />Barrington, Ill. <br />Letter submitted advising the Board that this Company does not manufacture <br />1,500 G.P.M. fire pumper such as is called for in the specifications. <br />The letter was ordered placed on file. <br />Maxim Motor Company <br />Middleboro, Mass. <br />1 - Maxim Custom Built Pumper - Model F-26215 1500 Gallon Triple <br />Combination Motorized Pumping Fire Apparatus in Accordance <br />with speciflcations Complete $301,590.74 <br />Above price includes radio, as per specifications, installed. <br />If uninstalled basis desired, deduct from above 45.00 <br />Bid Bond for $39300.009 signed by Irene Prange, Attorney in Face <br />and countersigned by Herb Bietz. <br />Non -collusion Affidavit, signed by J. C. Whitcomb,,Pres. <br />This bid will be examined and taken under advisement. <br />OPENING OF BIDS -(-FIRE DEPARTMENT --PAINTING OF STATIONS 6.7.8 AND CENTRAL ) <br />The time now being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and the Board <br />called for bids to be opened for the painting of Fire Dtations Nos. 6, 7 <br />8'and Central Station. <br />Proofs of Publication from The South Bend Tribune with affidavit signed by <br />Robert DeLong and The Record with affidavit signed by Kathleen Sweitzer <br />were found sufficient. <br />The Clerk of the Board announced that no bids had been received for the <br />above proposed contract and he was directed by the Board to re -advertise <br />on July 6, July 13. Bids will be opened on July 16, 1962. <br />COMPLAINT: COUNCILMAN MUSZYNSKI ( ILLEGAL PARKING OF TRUCKS <br />A complaint from Councilman Muszynski to the Common Council that he has <br />had numerous complaint regarding illegal parking of trucks, trucks <br />parked with motors running, causing unnecessary noise and trucks speeding:_; <br />through Swygart Street and Indiana Avenue between Prairie and Walnut was <br />referred to the Police Department for investigation and report. <br />
