27 <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT ( ADVERTISE FOR SEDANS AND STATION WAGON ) <br />Comes now Chief of Police Harman and requests permission to have <br />advertisements placed for 11 vehicles for the use of the.Department, <br />10 sedans and l station wagon. <br />Permission granted and advertisements will be placed in The South Bend <br />Tribune and The Record on April 271, May 42 1962. Sealed bids will be <br />opened on May 79 1962. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT ( LEAVE OF ABSENCE - MILITARY DUTY 1 <br />At the request of Chief Harman, the Board granted Officer F. W. "Bill" <br />Voss permission to attend the annual short tour of duty with the U.S. <br />Air Force from.April 27) 1962 to May 11, 1962. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT PROMITIONS_ <br />At the recommendation of Chief Harman, the following promotions were <br />approved by the Board, effective April 16, 1962: <br />Cpt. Daniel Radman to rank of Det. Sgt. and report to Insp. Hunt <br />at 3:45 P.M. 4/16/62 <br />Officer Eur. Sikorski to rank of Sgt. and report to Capt. Parfitt <br />on 4/16/62. <br />Officer Irvin Gerschoffer to rank of Cpl. and report to Capt. <br />Zarembka on 4/16/62 at 2%30 P.M. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( PROGRESS REPORT: RAILROAD SURVEY <br />A progress report from Clem Hazinski, with reference to the railroad <br />survey on track repair was submitted to the Board. <br />Mir. Hazinski reported that all railroad systems have cooperated by <br />repairing and patching and crossings are now in good state of temporary <br />repair. <br />Progress on more permanent repair will be reported by Mr. Hazinski when <br />he meets individually with representatives of the various railroad <br />systems involved and the City Officials. <br />Mr. Hazinski further reported, orally, that the tracks on Niles Avenue <br />are being taken care of and that the New York Central railroad has <br />indicated that work will be done "as quickly as possible." The Niles <br />Avenue tracks are being rebuilt by the Michigan Central Railroad. <br />PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE ( BIKE AUCTION ) <br />The Clerk of the Board was directed to place advertisements in The <br />South Bend Tribune and The Record on April 27 and May 41, 1962 announcing <br />an auction of bicycles that have been turned over to the Police Department, <br />owners unk,iown, Said auction will be held on :'Jednesday, May 99' 1962'at <br />2:00 P.M. at City Hall -Court or Thursday, 'A1ay 10, same hour,if weather is inclement. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT ( SUB -STANDARD DIVISION - HEARINGS) <br />Comes now J. Jay Nimtz, attorney, representing the Federal National <br />Mortgage Association, Chicago, Illinoi_s., with reference to a repair <br />order issued on property looted at 106 N. Sadie Strcet. <br />Mir. Nimtz contended that the Association could do nothing about repairs <br />since property was owned by Clifford Bingham and title was in his name. <br />Mr. Grabarz, Director of Sub -Standard Division, explained that notices <br />sent to Mr. Bingham at his last known address had been ignored and his <br />department did not know whether he had recei,;ed such notices. <br />After hearing all persons -interested who appeared, and, all those present <br />
