M <br />April 91, 1962 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />April 9, 1962 at 10:00 A.M. CST. All members were present. Minutes <br />of the last regular meeting were read and approved. 4ouchers were <br />approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER TRAFFIC SIGNALS <br />Following th-e recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, ':he following <br />installations were approved: <br />Stop Signs installed on each of the 4 corners of intersection <br />of Byron and York streets, making this a 4-way stop. <br />Stop Signs installed on parallel Street, both sides, at Jackson. <br />Stop Sign installed on Campeau Street, northeast corner, at <br />Twyckenham Drive. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT APPLICATION <br />An application for the Fire Department from Eugene Joseph Stachowiak <br />was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT PETITION - STREET LIGHT <br />A Petition from Mr. and Mrs. Alex Stachowiak and others for a street <br />light on Bendix Drive between Ford and Dunham Streets was referred to <br />the Electrical Department for investigation and recommendation. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS <br />Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE - SEDAN ) <br />Comes now:'Verner_.Lane, Building Commissioner, and requests permission <br />to have advertisements placed for the purchase of a new Four Door Sedan <br />for use of his Department. <br />Permission granted, upon assurance from Mr. Lane that there is sufficient <br />money in the budget for such a purchase. <br />Advertisements will appear in The South Bend Tribune and The Record on <br />April 27 and May 4, 1962 and bids will be opened on May 7, 1962. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT (,MONTHLY REPORT <br />A Report from the Building Department for the month of March, 1962 was <br />accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT ( ATTEND CONFERENCE - COL UyiBUS ) <br />Comes now Verner Lane and requests permission to attend a conference in <br />Columbus, Ohio from May 19 through May 249 1962. The Conference is for <br />the Annual Conference of Building Cfficials of America. Mr. Lane requests <br />further that Mr. Grabarz be permitted to attend this conference. ' <br />t9t*: <br />The Board, being assured that there is sufficient money in the budget <br />for this meetingranted <br />g permission as stipulated above. �> <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION HEARINGS '� <br />Comes now Mr. Dan C. Cole, 506 29th Street, with a Petition from residents <br />on and near 29th Street and requests the immddiate removal of a building <br />located at 502 S. 29th Street. The Petition states that the building has <br />been condemned by the Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department <br />as of September, 1961. It has also been set afire in October; 1961 and <br />is polluted in the basement with trash and debris left by former occupants. <br />
