Jefferson Blvd, <br />South Bend 1, Indiana <br />The bid of Newman & Altman, Inc. was disqualified due to the fact that <br />there was no certification on the Non -Collusion Affidavit. <br />The bids will be examined and awarded not later than next Monday, March <br />5, 1962. <br />READVERTISE FIRE DEPARTMENT - CENTRAL STATION ROOF <br />Due to the fact that the specifications submitted for the proposed new <br />roof for the Central Fire Station, were found to be defective, it will <br />be necessary to readvertise for this construction after new specifications <br />have been drawn up and approved. <br />APPOINTMENT ( FIRE DEPARTMENT) <br />Darrell Wayne Dunlap, 2316 W. Bertrand Street, having met the requirements <br />of the Firemen's Pension Fund Board of Trustees, it is the decisioh of <br />the Board that At. Dunlap be appointed to the Fire.Department, effective <br />March 1, 1962. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT_( DEMOTIONS, PROMOTIONS) <br />Following the recommendation of Police Chief Harman, the following changes <br />were approved by the Board: <br />Inspector John Klaybor to be demoted to the rank of Captain. <br />Captain Cornelius Nicholas to be promoted to the rank of Inspector. <br />Lieutenant Carrol Parfitt to be promoted to the rank of -Captain. <br />Sergeant Melvin Pasalish to be prgmoted to the rank of Lieutenant. <br />The above changes will become effective March 1, 1962. <br />The demotion of Inspector John Klaybor was made at the request of Inspector <br />Klaybor. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT ( REQUEST: ATTEND FIELD TRAINING <br />Police Officer Marvin 0. Martz, requested permission to be excused from <br />duty from Saturday. March 24 to Saturday, April 71, 1962, in order to <br />attend the Annual ield Training with the 1st Engineer Co., Marine <br />Corps Reserve Unit. This training will be held at Engineer Training <br />Schools, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. <br />Permission granted. <br />APPLICATION ( POLICE DEPARTMENT) <br />An application from Charles Edward <br />accepted and placed on file. <br />Hill for the Police Department was <br />SPECIAL POLICE APPLICATION ( ROBERT HENRY) <br />A request from Robert Henry for a Commission as a Special Police Officer, <br />self employed, was considered by the Board, and denied. <br />CIVIL DEFENSE ( ATTEND WORKSHOP) <br />Comes now Inspector John Klaybor, Director of Civil Defense, and requests <br />permission to attend a workshop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Inspector Klaybor <br />advised the Board that he had been selected by the Indiana State Civil <br />Defense Director to attend this workshop and the Indiana State Office <br />has designated Inspector Klaybor to assume the Chairmanship. The dates <br />of this workshop are March 6, 1962 through March 8, 1962 in the City <br />Safety Building, Milwaukee. <br />The Board, having been advised that the Civil Defense Advisory hoard <br />has approved this request, the Board approves the attendance of Inspector <br />to the Workshop, as specified above. <br />
