01*44W
CASCADE
engineering
EXCEPTIONS / CLARIFICATIONS
City of South Bend, IN
Axle: Cascade utilizes a .844" diameter, zinc chromate plated, steel axle which is larger
than the required specification of 5/8" diameter. This is the same axle that has been
provided to the City of South Bend over the past 3 years by Cascade.
Lift System: Cascade Engineering uses a composite lower retention bar. In testing it has
been proven to be 3.4 times stronger than hollow steel retention bars. In addition it has
passed over 10,300 lift/dump/double pump cycles with a load of 350 pounds cycling up
in the dump position in less than 3 seconds. This is equivalent to 187 years of lifting and
dumping at excessive loads and lifter speeds. It has a "one way" mounting feature and is
designed so it requires no rivets, screws or push pins to hold the lower bar in place. This
is the same design as provided to the City of South Bend.
Nestability & Assembly: Cascade carts are shipped in stacks 9 high with the bottom cart
being fully assembled except for the lift bar. The remaining 8 carts need to have the
wheels and axle inserted. The lift bar needs to be assembled in all 9 carts. All carts come
with the lid attached. Wheels, axles and lift bars are shipped inside each cart. Assembly
time is less than one minute per cart.
