REQUEST TO DRIVE MECHANICAL #33 to Louisville, Ky.
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the re-
<br />quest of Chief of Police Thomas McNaughton for Sergeants Gerschoffer,
<br />Poolvoorde, Behnett and Mahank to drive Mechanical Vehicle #33 to Louisville,
<br />Kentucky to attend a course on the scientific investigation of crime at -the
<br />Southern Institute in session January 6 to 17, 1969.
<br />REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR TWO-WAY';RADIOS FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT
<br />The request of Lloyd S. Taylor, City Engineer, to advertise for:
<br />seven new two-way three frequency transmit,
<br />two frequency receive mobile radios complete,
<br />to operate on 12 volts,
<br />for the Police Department, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried
<br />was approved by the Board. And the Clerk is directed to advertise in the South
<br />Bend Tribune and in the Tri-County News on January 3, and January 10, 1969, for bids
<br />to be received on January 20, 1969.
<br />RESOLUTION ADOPTED FOR SALE OF FIRE DEPARTMENT PUMPER TRUCK
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the following Resolution
<br />No. 12/23/68 was adopted by the Board:
<br />"RESOLUTION NO. 12-23-68
<br />RESOLUTION AND EXECUTIVE AUTHORIZATION TO SELL PERSONAL
<br />PROPERTY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND WHICH IS NO LONGER
<br />NEEDED OR IS UNFIT FOR ITS INTENDED PURPOSES.
<br />WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Board of Public Works
<br />and Safety and the Fire Chief of the City of South Bend, Indiana, that
<br />a certain fire fighting vehicle unit is no longer needed and is unfit
<br />for the purpose for which it was intended, and
<br />WHEREAS, Chapter 186, Acts of 1967, of the Indiana General Assembly
<br />permits the sale of personal property no longer needed or obsolete,
<br />and
<br />WHEREAS, Chapter 173, Acts of 1961, as amended, grants authority
<br />to the various departments and agehcies-,of municipal government to
<br />contract for the purchase and/or sale of equipment, and
<br />WHEREAS, Portage Township, St. Joseph County, Indiana, has
<br />indicated a need of such vehicle unit and has indicated a desire
<br />to purchase said unit,
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works and Safety
<br />of the City of South Bend, that the following described fire fighting
<br />vehicle unit is no longer needed and is unfit for the purposes for
<br />which it was intended:
<br />1 - 1946 Seagrave 1,000 GPM pumper truck Model 66E6,
<br />S6rial No. C-6300, Engine No. 708439
<br />and is recommended to the Mayor of the City of South Bend that said
<br />vehicle should be appraised by a qualified appraiser and sold to the Portage "s .1'.
<br />Township, St. Joseph County, Indiana, for said appraised value.
