Decemaer 16, 1968 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety met at 10:00 A.M. on December 16,- <br />1968 with all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting were 'reviewed <br />and approved. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - RETIREMENT - EUGENE LUCKOWSKI <br />Eugene Luckowski of the South Bend Fire Department having filed with the Board <br />of Public Safety his notice of retirement, and said officer having been with the <br />Department since February,12, 1948, the Board hereby approved retirement effective <br />December 15, 1968. <br />APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT - FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />The following applications for appointment to the Fire Department were filed <br />and referred to the Personnel Director for further processing: <br />David Russell Vaughn <br />James Marion Ci.nal <br />Timothy James Makowski <br />POLICZ DEPARTMENT - APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT <br />The following applications for appointment to the Police Department were filed <br />and referred to the Personnel Director for further processing: <br />Donald Frank Erhardt, Jr. <br />Edward David Miley <br />APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT AS SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER DONALD L WEBB <br />The application of Donald L. Webb for appointment as a special police officer <br />for the Bendix Corporation was approved by the Board. <br />TRAFFIC REPORT FOR NOVEMBER, 1968 - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The Traffic Report for November, 1968, of the Police Department was reviewd <br />and filed by the Board. <br />STATISTICAL REPORT FOR NOVEMBER,,` 19683 - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The Statistical Report for November, 1968, was reviewed and filed by the Board. <br />REC3UENDATION OF CITY ENGINEER RE: PETITION FOR STREET LIGHT IMPROVEMENT IN <br />THE AREAS OF 29th ST., ETC. <br />After review and study and careful investigation the City Engineer recommends <br />the following installations: <br />7000 lumen mercury vapors in the following areas: <br />1302 S. 29th Street <br />518 E. Broadway <br />530-534 S. Illinois <br />Mid -block of Fassnacht <br />Mid -block of Hartzer <br />111891124 Cleveland Ave. <br />Intersection of Wilber and <br />Kinyon <br />1646 Greenwood <br />1128 E. Corby St. <br />522 S. Liberty <br />1801 S. Carlisle St.(across from) <br />1209 Hillcrest (across from) <br />Intersection of Hillside <br />and Phillipa <br />Mid -block of Kenwood <br />725-729 S. Phillipa <br />1513 N. Wilber <br />814 E. Indiana Ave. <br />716 S. Illinois <br />613 Sherman St. <br />20,000 lumen mercury vapor in the following area: 1003 W. Western Ave. at the <br />request of the engineering department. <br />Replacement and relocation of 4000 lum. incandescent to 7000 lumen mercury at <br />Calvert and Lafayette --- <br />The above recommendations of the engineer were approved by the Board. <br />The following installations were also approved by the Board upon the recommendation <br />of the city engineer: <br />
