February 1'9,, 1968 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public,Works and Safety was called to order <br />on Tuesday, February 13, with all members present. The minutes of the previous <br />meeting were reviewed and approved by the Board. <br />RZTjR_&'fENT: FIREMAN STEPHEN W. DANIELOWICZ JR <br />Fire Chief Cecil McHenry submitted the application for retirement from the Fire <br />Department from Stephen W. Danielowicz, Jr. He Was appointed February 15, 1948 <br />and wishes to retire on March 1, 1968. He has served 20 years as of February 15, <br />1968. <br />It was moved, duly seconded and unanimously passed that this retirement be <br />approved. <br />UMLAL AGREEMENT - FIRE DEPARTMENT AND CENTRE TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Fire Chief Cecil McHenry presented the Mutual Aid Agreement between the Fire <br />Department of the City of South Bend and the Centre Township Fire Department. <br />The Board Signed the agreement, and a copy will be given to the Fire Chief, and <br />one sent to the Fire Chief of Centre Township and one filed with the Board of <br />�.. Public Works and Safety. <br />SERGEANT MCMICHAEL TO ATTEND THE INSTITUTE <br />Police Chief Thomas McNaughton presented a request to the Board for Sergeant <br />Harold McMichael to attend the Southern Police Institute Police Administration <br />Program in Louisville, Kentucky during the spring tern, March 18 through June 9, <br />1968.. A portion of the cost of this school will be covered by a Scholarship <br />Credit which has been granted to Sergeant McMiehael. <br />The motion.:was made., duly; seebOdeci<-and:-oved the 'j--- st. <br />POLICEMEN TO ATTEND BREAZUALYZER SCHOOL <br />Chief Thomas McNaughton presented a request to the Board, stating that applications <br />have been applied for and accepted in the Breathalyzer School of Indiana University <br />at Bloomington, Indiana for Patrolman Donald Pinckert and Patrolman Thomas Kellogg <br />to attend on February 19, 1968 for one week. <br />The Board pnanimously approved the request. <br />STOP SIGN INSTALLED ON N. W.-CORNER OF BROADWAY AND RAYMOND COURT <br />Mr. Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, asked that the following be added to the <br />minutes of the Board meeting on February 19, 1968: <br />Band a stop sign to the utility pole on tge NW corner of Broadway and <br />Raymond Court. <br />The Board unanimously approved the installation. <br />STREET LIGHTING ON BIRDSELL STREET <br />In response to a complaint by Alfred L. Haynes, Chairman of the Neighborhood <br />Improvement Committee of the Hansel Neighborhood Center, about the street <br />lighting on Birdsell street, the following recommendation was presented by <br />Ralph Wadzinski, Assistant Traffic Director: The 100, 300, 400.and 500 blocks <br />North Birdsell Street had sufficient lighting but the 200 block had none, <br />it was therefore recommended that 2 - 4000 lumen 0. H., W. P. street light <br />be installed on 200 No. Birdsell at the intersection of Birdsell and Orange <br />Streets and across from the North property line of 214 No. Birdsell. <br />The Board unanimously approved the recommendation; <br />NORTH SIDE BOULEVARD STREET LIGiiT <br />Mr. Ralph Wadzinski submitted the following report regarding the Boulevard <br />light on the North Side of 100 W. North Shore Blvd: <br />The I & M Electric Company requests the Boulevard light on the <br />
