6 <br />STREET LIGHT IN VICINITY OF 736 CALIFORNIA AVE APPROVED <br />Mr. Clem Hazinski also reported on a street light in thevicinity of 736 California <br />Avenue and recommended same and it was also approved by the Board of Works. <br />Although adequate lighting is provided along Portage Avenue there is a dark pocket <br />created on the corner of California and DeMaude because of the high bakery <br />buildings. . <br />It is recommended that a 4000 lumen O.H. <br />California Avenue on an existing pole. <br />month. <br />light be installed in front of 737 <br />The cost to the city will be $3.15 per <br />STREET LIGHTING AT NORTHWEST PLAZA NORTHEAST PLAZA AND PARK PLAZA <br />The plans for street lighting at the Northwest Plaza, Northeast Plaza and Park <br />Plaza as suggested and recommended by Clem Hazinski, Traffic Director, was <br />approved by the Board as follows: <br />No. L --- A 4,000 lumen O.H. street light installed on the existing pole at the <br />southwest corner of Marquette and Fremont. This will complete the <br />illumination of the Northwest Plaza. <br />No. 2 -- A 4,000 lumen 0. H. street light be installed between 1267 and 1269 <br />South Bend Avenue in the Northeast Plaza. No. Illumination exists <br />there at present. <br />No. 3 -- Two 4,000 lumen O.H. street lights be installed in Park Plaza where <br />no illumination exists at present -- one between 1053 and 1057 Laurel <br />Court and one between 1028 and 1034 Laurel Court attached to present pole. <br />Annual cost to the City for these installations would be $75.60 each. <br />STREET LIGHTING ON MICHIGAN STREET AND ON MAIN AND LAFAYETTE <br />Mr. Lloyd Taylor, City Engineer, Presented the plan of the following proposals <br />for street lighting on Michigan Street and on Main and Lafayette: <br />Proposal No. 1 - street lighting on Michigan Street from Broadway to <br />Ireland Road <br />Proposal No. 2 - street lighting south of Chippewa on Main and Lafayette, <br />Ireland Road east and west from Michigan Street and <br />Walter Street. <br />In above Proposal No. 1, 42 - 6,000 lumen and 1 - 2,500 lumen street lights <br />will be removed. In place of these, an installation of 67 - 2,000 lumen <br />overhead mercury vapor units. <br />The cost will be as follows: <br />Install 67 - 20,000 lumen M.V. Luminaires @ $5.35 355.45 Mo. 4,301.40 Yr. <br />Remove 42 - 6,000 lumen Incandescent @ $3.20 136.40 Mo. 1,636.80.Yr. <br />This would make the net increase.::per month $222.05 and for the year $2,664.60. <br />In proposal No. 2, we will install 27, 7,000 lumen Mercury Vapor overhead units. <br />The cost per month will be $101.25 or $1,215,00 per year. Cost of each $3.75. <br />The preceding plans were approved by the Board. Copy of same in on file in <br />the vault. <br />POLICE APPLICATION - JERALD ANTHONY WEGER, <br />A police application was accepted for Jerald Anthony Weger and filed by the Board <br />of Public Works and Safety. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - DATE OF CHIEF HAMPTON's RETIREMENT <br />The exact date of Police Chief Hampton's retirement is June 2, 1967. <br />STREET LIGHT_OUTAGE.REPORTS <br />The street light outage reports were approved and ordered filed by the Board. <br />
