0 <br />August 22, 1966 <br />1 <br />t <br />Cn <br />U <br />U <br />1 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was called to order <br />at 10:00 A. M. with all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting <br />were read and approved. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Chief Irvin Hampton submitted his report for the month of July, 1966. Same was <br />ordered filed by the Board. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATION <br />The following applications were accepted by the Board and ordered filed: <br />Daniel Jay Williams, Ronald Eugene Cooley, Connie Lee Walls, Dennis Michael Cronin <br />Joseph Andrew Kosik, George Jerome Hardesty and Michael Dale Palmiter.. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATION <br />The application of James Bogan was filed for the Fire Department. <br />REQUEST - PETITI0X_FOR STREET ?SIGHT <br />A petition for a street light to be installed in the alley between Poplar Street <br />and Lincoln Way West in back of 1217 Poplar and 1234 Lincoln Way West was sub- <br />mitted by several residents. <br />The Board filed the Petition and instructed the Secretary to refer it to Mr. EH.gene <br />Radecki for study and recommendation. <br />REPORT - CLEM HAZINSKI - TRAFFIC DIRECTOR <br />Mr. Clem Hazinski, Traffic Director, has asked that the following be added to the <br />minutes of todays meeting: <br />1. 3 No. Parking signs on the west side of summit to prohibit parking 150' <br />north of western Ave. <br />2. Yield Sign & Post at N. E. Corner of Meade & Bulla. <br />3. 30 Minute Time Limit sign on 2403 Western <br />4. Two Hour Parking Limit signs on north side of Sample along side of Rocky's. <br />5. Stop signs on Dunham at Kenmore. <br />6. Stop signs 7 posts on Keller at Meade. <br />7. Stop sign on S. W. corner of Laurel & Jefferson. <br />The preceding was approved by the Board of Works. <br />REPORT - CLEM HAZINSKI - PARKING RESTRICTIONS ON WEST SIDE OF OLIVE. <br />A petition filed with the Board of Works and Safety July ll,'1966 requesting lifting <br />of parking restrictions on the west side of Olive from a point 240 feet north of Western t;.. <br />Avenue to the New York Central Tracks was referred to this department for study <br />and recommendation. <br />This study has been completed and the following are the results: <br />Physical features: Olive street is 48 feet wide at the petitioned location <br />and is built to provide 4 lanes of traffic as part of the outer belt route. Park <br />ing is presently prohibited on the entire west side of the street. <br />Traffic Features: The approach to Western Avenue on the west side of Olive St. <br />is channelized to provide for "Left Turn" Lane a a "Thru on Right Turn' lane. This <br />extens northward for approximately 300 feet, capacity of this street, considering <br />commercial vehicles and assuming parking is permitted on both sides is 1463 vehicles <br />per hour. Traffic volume counts show that the capacity is not nearly reached. <br />The petition requests that parking be allowed on the west side of the street between <br />6 PM and 6 AM Monday through Friday and from 12 Noon on Saturday to 12 midnight <br />on Sunday. Capacity percentages after 6 PM with parking permitted on both sides <br />are as follows: <br />
