ij*.r Andert, and it.being that they have served the Fire Department for more than <br />-twenty five years such retirement and said pension is hereby approved by the <br />Board. In the case of Michael Kumineca, effective date August 8, in the case <br />of Stephen Hegge, August 25, 1966, and in the case of John H. Andert, the effective <br />date shall be Septeniber 11. <br />SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS <br />Harold KIIAgerman and George Krovitch, Jr. were approved as Special Police <br />officers. They are members of the fire department. <br />SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER BOND <br />Bonds for special police officers Paul C. Truitt and Albert Jackson Dunkel <br />of1the South Bend Tribune were approved by the Board. <br />TRAFFIC` CONTROL BIRDSELL STREET <br />Investigation was made by the Traffic: Director, Clem Hazinski, on the petition <br />for addition traffic control on Birdsell Street and the following report was <br />made and approved by the Board: <br />Investigation was made by this department and the following action was <br />taken: stop signs were installed on Liston, Colfax and Orange where <br />they intersect with Birdsell; also, 30 mile per hour speed limit signs were <br />installed, one at Birdsell and Washington and the other at Birdsell and <br />Linden. <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL - 100 BLOCK EAST AND WEST WAYNE STREET <br />Th& following recommendation was given by Clem Hazinski, Traffic Director <br />and approved by the Board: <br />In order to expedite traffic movement and eliminate congestion in the <br />100 blocks of East and West Wayne Street, it is recommended that channel- <br />ization be installed by painting left turn lanes and right turn lanes <br />at the approaches to Michigan Street and also Main Street. <br />In order to accomplish this and create a "right" or "thru" lane in the <br />100 block of West Wayne Street, parking would have to be removed in the <br />lst half block of West Wayne Street on the south side of the street. <br />Therefore, it is recommended that the five parking meters presently <br />located there be removed and parking be prohibited. <br />The Secretary was instructed to notify the parking meter department. <br />PROPOSED STREET LIGHTING PORTAGE AVE. FROM NAVARRE TO ANGELA AVE <br />Mr. Eugene Radecki, Electrical Department, gave the following report on the <br />proposed street lighting on Portage Avenue from Navarre to Angela Ave. and it <br />was approved by the Board: <br />At present there are: <br />14 4000L OH Street lights at $2.60 per mo. $ 36.40 <br />1 - 1000L UG Street lights at $2.00 per mo. 2.00 <br />38.40 Per MO <br />$460.80 Year <br />Proposed: <br />31 Lights'- 21,000L Mercury Vapor OH wood pole <br />@ $5.35 Per MO $165.85 per mo. <br />$1,990.20 yr. <br />or <br />31 Lights - 10,000L Incandescent OH wood pole <br />@ $ 4.45 Per Mo $137.95 per mo. <br />$1,655.40 yr. <br />or <br />
