',August 8, 1966 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was called to order at 10:00 <br />A. M. with all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and <br />approved. <br />BIDS: POLICE DEPARTMENT: WALKIE TALKIE RADIOS <br />Sealed bids were accepted for 6 Portable Handie Talkie Radios for the South Bend Police <br />Department. Prodf of publication were read from the South Bend Tribune, with affidavit <br />signed by Robert DeL6ng and from the Tri-County News with affidavit signed by <br />Alfred Snyder II, and these having been found sufficient, the following bid was read: <br />Motorola Communications and Electronics Inc 501 W. Augusta A1vd Chicago 111. <br />6 Model H2, DEN-1114/W, 2 Watt, "Hardie -Talkie", equipped for 2T-1R frequency <br />and remote microphone operation. <br />8 Nicad batteries <br />6 Coil cord microphones <br />6 Earphones <br />6 Collapsible antennas <br />6 Carrying cases with cover and strap <br />1 12-unit, multiple battery charger <br />The total price of this proposal, delivered is $ 4,401.00 <br />Non -collusion affidavit properly signed by Frank B. McCormick <br />Bid bond of $525.00 signed by William J. Weisz, Vice President. <br />The preceding bid, being the only bid received was checked with specifications by <br />the police chief and the same was accepted and signed by the Board this date, <br />August 8, 1966. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT: RESIGNATION OF HOFF <br />The resignation of Ervin J. Hoff, Jr. from the Police Department having been sub- <br />mitted by him and signed by Chief Hampton, was accepted by the Board effective <br />August 5, 1966. Mr. Hoff has been with the department since October 16, 1963 <br />and has found other employment. <br />STREET LIGHT - PETITION <br />A petition from several residents in the vicinity to have a light installed in the <br />alley bztmw=xF running parrallel with Fairview and Irvington between High and <br />Erskine. <br />A petition from several residents on Parkwood Lane for a street light, as there are <br />two blocks and it is very dark and there are a large number of children in the <br />vicinity. <br />Mr. Szymkowiak, District Councilman, also submitted a petition signed by several <br />residents to install a street light in an alley at 504 Euclid Avenue and Cleveland <br />Avenue. <br />The preceding petitions were filed by the Board and referred to Eugene Radecki for <br />study and recommendation. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - RENE BAETSLE RETIREMENT <br />Fire Chief Cecil McHenry and the South Bend Fire man's Pension Board having this <br />date informed the Beard per written communication that Rene E miel Baetsle, a South <br />Bend Fireman having been found unable to perform said duties of a fireman and is <br />retiring on a disability pension upon the Pecommendation of the Board and Dr. <br />R. W. Spenner. <br />Same is hereby approved, the retirement effective date being August 16, 1966. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - RETIREMENT OF K[AUNECZ HEGGE AND ANDERT <br />Fire Chief McHenry having this date appeared before the Board and in written form <br />given a statement that the South Bend Firemen's Pension Board has granted retirement <br />pension to the following three fireman: Michael.Kumiecz, Stephen J. Hegge and John <br />H <br />
