November 1, 1965 <br />A fegular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />November 1, 1965 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes <br />of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were <br />approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT: SUB -STANDARD DIVISION, ( HEARINGS ) <br />Comes now Richard Liszewski, Director of Sub -Standard Division of the <br />Building Department, and requests permission to advertise -a four'apartment <br />dwelling at 125-127 N. Hill Street for demolition. <br />Mr. George Stratigos, attorney representing the Estate`,of.Mr.;;Yusffy:.. <br />deceased, agreed that the property is in bad condition, that it is <br />occupied but that very little rent is being received. He has no - <br />objection to posting and demolition. <br />He also advised that one family is on welfare. <br />all The Board requested Mr. Stratigos to notify the tenants to move and <br />permission granted Mr. Liszewski to advertise for bids for demolition. <br />With reference to property located at 406-0612 408-408- E. Wenger <br />Street, Mr. Liszewski advised the Board that the owner of this <br />sub -standard property has been reportedly using it as a residence. <br />The Board requested Mr. Liszeiirski to notify the owner, Mr. B. Davidson, <br />to come before the Board and also approved re -advertising for bids for <br />demolition of this structure. <br />Mr. Liszewski advised the Board that due to a fire property owned by <br />Mrs, Bertha Raes, located at 120 S. Fellows Street, has been vacant <br />for four or five months. <br />Permission granted to advertise for bids for demolition. <br />OPEN BIAS: DEMOLITION ( SUB -STANDARD ) <br />Mr. Liszewski submitted the following sealed bids for demolition of <br />property located at 105-107 O'Brien Street, ovrned by Federal National <br />Mortgate Association, Chicago, Ill: <br />Woodruff & Sons <br />Michigan City, Indiana <br />Warner Wreckin-a Co. <br />Elkhart, Indiana <br />Ralph Williams <br />19947 W . Lynwood <br />South Bend, Ind. <br />$562.00 - No salvage. <br />Included $25.00 :later <br />shut-off. <br />$575.00 - including $25.00 <br />water shut-off <br />(Same price without salvage, and <br />including $25.00 water shutoff). <br />$396.00- removal of materials and <br />including $25.00-water <br />shut-off. <br />A & J Demolition Co. $300.00 - retain material <br />318 O'Brien 25.00 - water shut-off <br />South Bend, Ind. $340.00 - stack salvage <br />All bids were in order. All Non -Collusion Affidavits were property ✓ <br />executed. <br />It appearing that the bid of A & J Demolition is the lowest and best bid <br />it is now awarded provided A & J Demolition can comply with demolition <br />
